Grouchy CMs low quality standards and other things from our trip...

It's kind of hard not to notice when you are around it all day long.
It has peaks and valleys. Overall, Disney was a positive experience for me.

There were times when I was called racist while manning the Fastpass line or was unfairly written up because the changed the clock in system while I was gone one year, but those were far outweighed by the multitude of positive experiences I had with guest and cast.

I don't remember ever saying I was an authority of anything...just stating my experiences, something you and a lot of other members here have a hard time with. It seems that you feel you are the "authority" of telling others that their experiences are wrong. This is something I can not understand due to the fact that you are not by my side 24/7.
You should probably look at your own signature line. By stating that you are "Filled with stories of the harsh reality of being a CM" you proport that your experience and hardship is typical.

While I won't dispute your experience, since you are correct that I am not there. I will dispute your assertion, intentional or not, that your experience is typical when, based on what you consistantly post, it did not mirror my own experience as a CM.

While I am not going to engage in a name calling knock out to final death argument here...I will continue to state my experiences on this "discussion forum".
I don't believe I ever called you a name. You are more than welcome to state your experiences, just as I am able to point out that my experiences differ from yours.

To the OP, I hope that you communicate the quality of the cast to Disney whether good or bad.

Like I said...By my experiences...It is typical.
And like I said, your experience is statistically insignificant and may not represent a typical working experience at WDW.
I never said it did...would you like me to use a disclaimer every time I talk?
Im glad you dont work for me 5% error is a sacking.
I'm glad I don't work for you either!

I don't think it's a lame argument. Someday, when I'm older, I'd like to work for WDW. I know up front, if I ever want to do this, the most important part of my job will be to have a smile on my face no matter what the circumstances are. If I know this, certainly a Disney employee knows this.

Nonsense. It is just not possible, in ANY job, to always be at 100%.

We all face stress in our jobs. You deal with it and press on. If you can't handle it, get another job.

That's also ridiculous. Yes, we all have stress in our jobs. But you are practically implying that if a person can't be 100% on the job, they shouldn't have the job. Well, everyone would be jobless if that were the case. And if you really think you can be 100% in a place like Disney, I doubt you'd last a week.

I've worked at two casinos and any treament you've had from guests at WDW I could match AND raise you one better. Suck it up soldier. If jobs weren't stressful and didn't suck then they wouldn't have to pay you to do it.

I'd say 90% of the cm's we encountered were more than friendly, even when getting yelled at by some rude visitor for something they have no control over. Everyone is entitled to a bad day, even at DW. Being "rude" however shouldn't be tolerated at any job, DW or your local grocery store.

IF your unhappy with CM's

Tell management in the park about your experiences right then and there. Venting here is like :brick:its NOT going to change anything Duckberg :snore:

well, you know the old saying.

If you see one cockroach...

Sorry to hear about your experience and if you can't gripe on the internet, what good is it?

We went in November 09 the week before and the week of Thanksgiving, even in the heavier days I never encountered a rude cast member, the only cast member who was curt with us was an older man at Guest Relations and the conversation centerted around the Lights of Winter. Sorry you encountered that, I can honestly say in all my years visiting the world at different times (peak/non peak) I have never had issues with the CM's, they have always been up to Disneys (usually) high standards.

Unfortunately, early January is when they get a lot of new college programmers as well as new cm's in general, and the quality of some of the people they've been hiring lately has been questionable from what I've seen...

This was a while ago, but I was at the Boardwalk with a friend and some girls. The girls went off to have a get together with other girlfriends at a bar so I stayed behind (too many girls together is just not a good time) and my friend and me ordered a couple slices of pizza. Well, every five minutes the manager would pop out and say "We just got it out of the oven, we'll be right with you." He did this four or five times. 45 minutes later the kid at the window actually walked out and had a cigarette with us (when I smoked). Never had a CM do that before. He said, "You guys still haven't got your pizza? Whoa, that sucks, man." The manager came back to the window signaled for him to get back inside. The kids parting words were, "Dude, I guess I'm in trouble. Later!"

The manager came back to the window, looked like he never saw us before and disappeared back into the kitchen when he "remembered" were were STILL waiting. I got my pizza and money back almost an hour and a half later. The stoner CM was hilarious, though. He was like Bill and Ted put together.

It is typical for WE Americans to see the small dead tree in the middle of a lush and lavish forest. We spend too much time on the negatives. I, too, am part of this group and trying to change that. It is not easy.

You still had a blast except the few negatives. If you reflect on the positive instead of the negatives, then you will quickly begin to ignore it. Power of Positive Thinking.

Cockroaches: It was cold, they get cold too, and they want to be warm. It is FL and they live by the millions in all the landscape. If it is too cold outside, they will come inside. It is the nature of FL. Did you call the front desk to have the room sprayed?

Grouchy CMs: You were there at the busiest time of the year. The CMs have to work with insane numbers of people and some extremely rude people. It is possible the person in front of you just berated the CM because they would not give them a table right then with no ADRs. TRex is not run by Disney CMs, so that is a separate issue. Is it that the grouchy CMs just made a larger or perceived impression than the good ones?

Dining: The DDP has drop the quality of dining from what we expect Disney to be to what we can get at a Waffle House. Maybe not that bad, but with the prices, the anology is valid.

As far as the roaches, right on. I was going to ask if they were staying on the ground floor, but since the OP has been scared away by the ridiculous amount of flaming going on here (BigRedDad you were quite nice)... guess that is not going to happen.

Would you be in a good mood if you were forced to work 12 hours on Christmas Day? I think not...

No one is "forced" to work, we live in a free Country. IF a person did not want a job at a place open on Holidays they are "free" to go find a job elsewhere.
