Jasonflz's (small) Update 1/2/10

Here's a very short update for Saturday and part of Sunday.

-freezing cold temperatures at night. The ride on the tram wasn't a fun experience.

-Tiana's Showboat Jubilee still drew major crowds for the afternoon.

-POTC had a surprisingly short wait in the morning, the ride's effects all seemed to be working.

-It's a Small World actually went up to a 50 minute wait!

-Mickey's Philharmagic had it's first breakdown....sorta. All of the show audio stopped playing while the show continued on (for a few minutes). It was embarassing, to say the least.

-I rode the new TTA for the first time, the narration itself isn't as bad in person, not saying it's very good either. I do wish they could have done more with the ride though. When passing through SM I could not see any effects. (maybe the windows are still covered?)

-Finally got around to SM. First off, the standby line LED display (for the wait times) is missing. Second, the new and improved queue is great! The games were mildly entertaining and the new load area is amazing to look at. As for the ride itself, while I agree that more could have been done, the ride is FAR darker than before and it still is very enjoyable. The post show was interesting as well. Overall, I'm pleased with what they did with the ride. I loved it before and I still love it now.

-HM is very spooky at night. I never caught the thunder effect in the exterior queue until now.

-The Christmas fireworks show was very well done. There was something magical about watching fireworks and being able to see you breath at the same time.

Now onto DHS. I ctually didn't do any rides (we were maily there for two reasons) but I liked what they did for the holidays.

-Fantasmic! was as great as always. Surprisingly, it didn't feel as packed as usual (was able to walk right into the auditorium without standing in line for an hour) but the show was still full. I don't get all the hate towards the Pocahontas sequence. It's very well done, maybe a little transitioning better would help but....

-The Osborne Lights were amazing. This was my first time seeing them and it took my breath away. Truly a magical Disney experience for anyone coming there. I also loved the falling "snow" they added in. Well worth the trip!

-TSMM had a wait of 140 minutes.

On Sunday we went to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island.

-The temperatures seemed even colder than the night before. I was frozen to the bone.

-With Virgin closed, Starabilias gone, and several of the clubs "deserted" the place felt like a ghost town. Real shame.

-Surprisingly, Characters in flight was still operating. The windchill above must have been bad, considering the baloon was rocking in all directions.

-I managed to catch Sherlock Holmes at the AMC 24. We sat all the way up on the 3rd balcony, above the projector.

Overall, I had loads of fun, despite freezing temperatures. Sorry, but no pictures.

Thank you!

Whats the post show like now?

Slightly updated but mostly the same as before. One new addition is these tv screens which are added to each "room" showing you various destinations to go to. Also, the tv monitors where you can see yourself seem to be gone.

Thanks.
Regarding the cold temperatures, I remember being at WDW in December a few years ago when it was very cold.
Did the Safari ride early in the morning and all I could think was, "Forget Little Red. Let's get back to where it's warm."
I think that's the coldest I've ever been at WDW.

:)

 Do you know how cold it was? Ours was around 31 degrees.

Sad but true. The windows arn`t covered (though last month the opening soon banners on the windows were still up)

You occasioanlly catch the updated asteroid projections off to the far left instead of above, and some of the older star fx as you exit the postshow tunnel, but that`s about it. Something needs to be done; it negates the entire reasoning for routing the WEDway through the building to begin with. Though you could also say that about the south complex building too, ever since If You Could Fly closed.

It's not THAT cold out...;)
:D

Sounds nice, though.

Any EPCOT?

 Tell that to 31 degrees. It didn't bother me as much at night as it did on Sunday, when I saw my breath. Still, I prefer it over the usual hot, Florida weather.
Unfortunately no Epcot. I only had a 1 day pass left and could only squeeze in MK and DHS. Next time I'm planning on going.

I did catch the original falling star effect, but past that I couldn't see any stars, meteorites, or any other projections. Really surprising, considering the effects all seem to work on the ride.

One more disappointing note, still no Star tunnel or music of any sort when passing the spaceship.

You can see the spinning Space Station, though.

If you could fly? :D That was the un-sponsored name of Wings, right?

I was there on the very same day.:animwink:I saw that there was something wrong with the clock. I went close up to it and it looked like it was...cracked! I took a pic of and and it should be on here soon. From the back of the line, I saw that the red on the standby time was blinking and I just asked a CM what the wait time was. Around 11pm...2 hours. I waited, too.

I went at 12:00 at night. The line was only 20 minutes.

thats wierd. i was there a few weeks ago for the xmas party and i could swear its brighter inside due to the new star projections.

i dont remember which ride it was, maybe if you had wings, but i remember riding through a room with 3 wrap around screens, dont really remember the other 2 but i think 1 was of a skier flying downhill. as a kid it seemed as though we were actually moving that fast. i miss that. now that would be cool to do to the tta, take a section of track, enclose it, and put in those screens so you feel like your moving at 100 mph, lol.

anyone have video of the ride im talkin about?
