Looking to go to a movie today and not really sure which one to choose.

Right now it is between Julie and Julia or The Time Traveler's Wife.

Anyone seen either of these? And would you recommend them?

Thanks!

I want to see both of them also...:)

I heard that they are both very good but from friends who have seen them both I have heard That Julie and Julia is the better of the 2.

Let us know which one you choose and how you liked it..:)

I saw Julie & Julia and loved it. Makes me want to cook more. It was a really funny movie. My DH even liked the movie. I still am going to see Time Travelers Wife. I let you know if it is any good.

I am probably more in the mood for something funny, leaning towards Julie and Julia, however I have 3 hours to change my mind. :)

Definitely don't see The Time Traveler's Wife then. It's a lovely story and has some funny parts, but it will also make you tear up. I also have read the book and felt the movie was a good complement to it, although I can't say how well it stands alone since I knew the book :)

And as much as you tear up during the movie, the film version is MUCH MORE happy than the book!

When I think about it, you're right but I didn't cry at all in the book and I did in the movie. I think it has something to do with the fact that whenever I see someone crying, I'm very prone to it myself :lookaroun

I ended up seeing Julie and Julia which was FANTASTIC!
Although I felt a little disappointed at the end, but overall it was great!

Definitely still want to see Time Traveler's Wife, I just think that day, I was not as much in the mood for a tear jerker romance.

I hate to say that the novel is depressing, because overall it's not a depressing book. However it does have rather "downer" moments... if that makes sense...
The film didn't have that really.
Let us know what you think when you see it Katy!

No, it'd definitely not depressing or a downer of a book. I thought the author handled her material very well so it wasn't a dreary tail or a tail of light fluff. It was just a good story that doesn't really fit into any specific genre.

I was quite pleased with the casting of Clare and Henry in the movie though :)

I loved the book so I am excited to see how well it translated to film. The book, I thought, was very interesting and unique. And I too am one of those folks that the minute I see someone crying, I'm done.
