It might sound lame... but one of my happiest places over the years has been spending two or three afternoons each trip at the Rose and Crown in UK, Epcot... looking out over the lake and just relaxing, talking with family and friends, watching the people, birds, fish, scenery... An order of fish and chips along with some beer or pop... this has been my family's iconic imagery of a Disney vacation.

It's often very secluded and during the winter months an early evening seating prepares you well for Illuminations.

Rides and shows are appreciated, but so is our lakeside quiet time. This small patio is as much a part of our trip as a day or two at Magic Kingdom or Disney Hollywood Studios. Taking time to revel in beauty of World Showcase seems to be something I rarely hear others talk about.

But like I said: It might sound lame...

Nah, it's not lame. For years now, one of my favorite places is that little side street on Main Street U.S.A in MK (the one where the silhouette artists are). I've never seen it crowded, as most people are in a hurry to head up to the castle. I'll grab a water or a soda and just sit back there and relax. It also kind of fun to listen to the singing lesson going on upstairs in the music teachers home..:)

Oh we love that spot(we'll keep it a secret:)) We love getting breakfast at the bakery at least one morning during our stay and just sitting there people watching and taking everything in...The sights, sounds and yes the yummy (well most of the time) smells.!!!

Its funny how many people think when you go to Disney its all very go, go , go, yes it can be , but also you can slow down your pace and take it all in....we love doing that, even our girls who are 5 and 8!

Oh I miss it!!!!!! See I start reading a thread like this and now I'm getting antsy!!!:)

Only 76 more days to go and we'll be at our Happy Place!!!

The whole atmosphere in MK is great for your first day, it really gets me into the trip, and reminds you even more of how much you love the place!

I also look forward to the TOT!!!

The thing I look forward to the most is our first day at DHS. It's become our family tradition to start there, with TOT being the first ride, and it has really become the "i'm finnaly here' moment for myself.

There is a big difference between Disney enthusiasts and those who do not understand why we are like this. It is called sitting back and taking it all in, all the small things. Not just going on the rides( you can do that at any park) it is all about the atmosphere and taking a step out of reality. That is why we tend to find those places to sit back and enjoy everything that is around us. Dont get me wrong though the rides and parades and fireworks are all outstanding.

Forgetting all the stress that this year has been so full of it seems. Plus ride Test Track, Toy Story and Soarin. We missed all of these last year. :(

4 weeks from today we'll be heading down on I-77 to Disney! :sohappy:I am most excited about staying at the Contemporary and looking out our window toward the Magic Kingdom. Walking down Main Street for the first time is always a special feeling too. The most important part for me is just being in a place our whole family enjoys....watching my son growing increasingly verbal and interacting with the world around him due to all the pixie dust :)...my daughter's joy in being there and the laughter we share...just being with my husband away from the day to day of real life. I'm looking forward to the new memories we will form. :)

Nothing sounds lame at all. I always looked forward to getting on the ME bus, checking in and then heading over to Sandwich of Earl. To us, we eat there on the first day all the time, we sit there amongst the men in suits and the tourists, and think

We are finally on vacation!

I think that I most look forward to seeing the parks. Just taking in the sights and the atmosphere is enough for me. Nothing beats rolling up to a park in the buses to see the icons standing tall over everything else.

Not lame at all. We have shared in this same experience--and trying very hard NOT to feed the ducks who beg for our chips. We are loving EPCOT!
