HI I HAVE A QUESTIONS.
IM GOING 2 DISNEY WORLD IN AUG AND IM STAYING IN THE MUSIC RESORT. WE ARE A FAMILY OF FOUR BUT I HAVE A FRIEND THAT NOW WANTS TO COM???? THE ROOM MAX IS 4PEOPLE. WILL I HAVE A PROB IF MY FRIEND JUST BUYS HIS TICKETS AND JUST STAYS WITH USE IN ARE ROOM??? TRAVELING ON THE WDW BUSSES AND OTHER TRANSPO???
PLEASE HELP ME OUT

First please for our sake learn to lay off the caps lock. I don't feel like being yelled at this early in the morning. Now I can guarantee this will begin a flame war. Technically you should have to pay for him but there isn't anything stopping you from having him stay in your room, but keep in mind if Disney did find out then your entire party would be thrown out of the resort so it's a risk.

frankly you'll have to decide if you feel like taking a risk of getting caught. If, for instance all of you are on a dining plan and your friend is not then it might become obvious that something is up. Whether it gets reported or not is another question.

Housekeeping (aka Mousekeeping) will probably be aware that there is an extra person but, who knows if they will report it.

If you think you can downplay it and be discreet then you may not get caught but if you do, either your friend or your entire party will be kicked out.

(I can't believe I'm asking the person screaming in all caps if they can be discreet) :lookaroun

There are suites at ASMu...you might want to look into that option or two standard rooms instead. If your friend wants to tag along and you don't want to take the risk of getting kicked out you'll have to pay up.

I am pretty sure that room limits are not arbitrarily set by Disney. It is part of Florida state fire codes that determine size and occupancy rules. So in essence to fit a 5th person into a 4 person room you would be breaking the law. I know there is an additional cost to do the right thing sometimes, but you should not put a 5th person in your room. As stated there are rooms in each hotel class (value, moderate, and deluxe) that can fit 5 people. It seems like that may be the right way to go.

They also won't have a key to the room, be able to take advantage of emh's, etc. If I was you, I'd tell your friend to get their own room or maybe get two rooms that a few people share. Having 5 in one of those small rooms isn't going to work out all that well and isn't fair to those who were originally going to be in the room.

Though the Suites have only one true bed. Everyone else sleeps on converted living room furniture. It's slightly cheaper to reserve two standard rooms (where you'd get four beds) than it is one Family Suite. You just lose out on the "kitchenette".

Oh, and I would never want to sleep in a Value resort room with 4 people, let alone 5... My friends and I did 3 in a room, but that was pushing it. (But we've been friends for over 15 years, so we survived)

If only my good buddy alecshawn were still around, he's smack down the knowledge on all y'all.

But since he's not, don't be a schmuck and risk ruining 3 other people's vacation so your buddy can save some money sleeping on your floor. Not to mention the fact that the value rooms are so small as it is 4 people sharing a room is often unbearable. Either get 2 rooms, or bring your buddy next time.

If your friend wants to go with you then fine. Get them to pay their share and upgrade to a room that accomodates 5

Simple.

Aside from the whole key issue, the rooms at the values are not that big and your group would be VERY cramped, making spending any time in the room uncomfortable. You might want to discuss this with your group and see if everyone is willing to kick in a little extra and upgrade to a suite or get another adjoining room. They might be glad for the extra space.

It is a significant price increase from all stars to a moderate. I would look into a downtown disney hotel maybe, if you choose not to risk it. Or, have the person pay the difference of the upgraded room. You will be squeezed in an all star room with 3 adults and 2 kids. Good luck. You will probably not be friends with that person after a week. lol:lol:

To clear up and reinforce a few points....

The room occupancy limits are set by the fire martial not Disney.

Due to the obvious liability reasons Disney is very strict about about obeying the occupancy limits.

The housekeeping staff is told to look for and immediately report any signs of a room being over occupied.

If caught you will be given the choice of booking a second room at rack rates or leaving property.
