Is it true that Expedition Everest is still broken?

Someone told me that the huge yeti in EE has been broken for months and theres no plans to have it fixed for a long long time.

Is this true or someone just messing with me as I try to plan my next trip?

Yes
E:E was working just fine when I was there both in September and December. If you're talking about the Yeti being 'broken' I can't tell the difference from the supposed A & B modes.

The coaster as a whole is operational and working fine. However, the yeti AA is basically out of order right now in the sense it has basically no movement and is in a static position. There are plans in place to fix it in the near future.

Then you more than likely have never seen A mode. In B mode there is nothing more than some wind and a strobe light to simulate the Yeti moving. In A mode this 20'+ beast lunges froward and takes a swipe at you.

To the OP.....there are rumors of plans to fix it but what has been reported to be wrong with it is a fairly major structural issue and nothing that can or should be fixed quickly. I would not count on seeing it repaired for a good while.

In short, the yeti has a broken spine... which sucks because A mode is so much better!!!!

There is a HUGE difference between A and B mode. It would be similar to you going on the Great Movie Ride, and in the Wizard of Oz scene not seeing the Witch. I would say if you arent sure of the difference, you have never seen it running in A mode (which is the fully working, fully animated, fully lit scene).

They arent supposed, they are designed modes of operation. B mode was intended to be a very short term mode to keep the ride running in the event of a problem. However, it has now been in B mode for over a year. The difference between A and B is massive.

Not "over a year!"

Because of that "massive" difference, which I have certainly noted in the past, I can say with near certainty that the Yeti was in A mode as recently as April 2008.

Wasn`t it around the time of DAKs 10th that it finally gave up after stop-starting? Throw everything to the wind for the execs, and do some permenant damage.

If you haven't seen it in A mode, you're missing something. I was lucky enough to see the Yeti working in July 07. July 08, unfortunately, he was just sitting there and if you don't know to look, you may miss him altogether due to the darkness.

The yeti is moving, just very slightly.

It actually looks like he's waving bye to you.

You could actually see that? I rode twice in a row (my first times ever), and I felt like if I had blinked I would have missed him! The flashes are that fast. Perhaps someone sitting in the back -- where you may get a longer view of the creature -- might see more in the few moments he is visible.

View from the back of the train, view from inside the control room, same difference.

I saw the yeti in January of 2008, then when I was back in Spetember of 2008 he was broke. The Yeti is the best part of the ride and is the whole focus of the entire ride. They have to fix him, like he was. I remember my first ride on it, I ducked down in my seat I thought he was really going to hit me. It just adds soo much to the ride, I really hope disney can find a way to bring him back to full operations
