First Ride Ever?

My wife and I are leaving Oct. 6th for our first trip. We arrive in Orlando and are taking DME to our hotel (Wilderness Lodge). We plan on taking the boat to the Magic Kingdom that day (mid afternoon) and spending the day there. So the question is, what should our first ride ever at Disney be? I want something that screams 'Disney!' suggestions?

There are so many but I would have to say It's a Small World or Pirates of the Caribbean, they both are great starters. Have fun I hope you have a great trip!:)

I'd suggest taking the train all the way around the park to get a feel for things, then get off at Main Street again, walk down main street ands savor the atmosphere, then take a left over to Adventureland.

I would suggest Mickey's Philharmagic. It is definitely Disney, from start to finish. During our visit last year (our 7th), we were on a tour that included this, and we were absolutely blown away by this "ride". We were sorry to have missed it on previous years, and it is definitely one of our first stops when we go to MK this October.

If it were my first ever official WDW Magic Kingdom ride... I'd hope that I'd get to ride Splash Mountain first. It really screams 'DISNEY' in all aspects for me. Though I fully support taking your time walking around, enjoying yourself, and soaking it all in, I'd fully recommend Splash first.

Be sure to let us know what you pick!

you sound like you have done this a time or two??

I also agree with this idea. Kinda get a feeling for the park, instead of just jumping right in.

I totally agree with Splash Mountain as it's Disney storytelling at its best (IMO) however, whatever you choose will be special so it doesn't really matter :) Have fun!

I have no clue what my 1st ride was back in Dec of 93.
For my gf's first ride we did Haunted Mansion because it doesn't have fast pass.
It just depends on which way around the park your going right or left. I do suggest planning out what rides and attractions to see/do to make best use of fast passes.

I love splash mountain but I don't think it would be my first pick just because I find it miserable walking around the park soaking wet, leave it for later in the day before heading back to WL. I would recommend PotC or HM, then space mountain and big thunder mountain. So many options... hard choice, but I really doubt you will be disappointed with any ride you chose first. (This coming from a disney nut though)

train!

Another vote for the train. It's a terrific 'wow look where we are and what we're about to experience' kind of thing, full of the sounds and sights of all that's about to happen to you. Then you can get off and let it slowly overtake you as you walk down Main St. building up to all of the adventures to come. Oh, my this is so exciting, I'm getting agita just thinking about it. :ROFLOL:
Plus since you're arriving mid-afternoon, I wouldn't rush right to one of the 'mountains' or other biggies. The lines will be longest then, and if you take your time, you'll start to get to them just as everybody is starting to tire and look for dinner, and the lines will lessen a bit. Take your time. There's nothing like the first time...;)
