Phone Scammer Hits Disney Resort

Some unsuspecting guests at Disney’s Pop Century Resort were recently bilked out of close to $11,000 after handing over their credit card numbers to phone callers pretending to be resort employees. Luckily for the guests, Disney refunded the money. But news of the scam is a reminder to travelers that - as the old adage goes - when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If a person claiming to be a hotel employee calls your room and requests a credit card number for any reason, tell them you’ll be happy to clear up the matter in person with a visit to the front desk. There’s absolutely no reason a hotel employee should need to take your credit card number over the phone when you’re a current guest.

disney puts a letter on the desk saying not to do it...if somebody asks for your credit card that claims to work for disney, or anything suspisious, to call the front desk and they will alert the authorities

Only horrible people do things like this. However, I don't understand why people would fall for it. But I suppose if you are in the right moment and not thinking, it could happen to almost anyone.

I can see this easily

I used to work at hotel and when people refused to leave a credit card for movies and such then decide to watch a movie they would get so mad at me when i told them I could not take their card number over the phone only at the front desk. One guy got so mad at me he left the hotel, so i can see this happening easily and that is to bad.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
It's very unfortunate that there are people out there like this. But Disney is don't what they can about it, it seems. I don't know what else people want.

Old News!! Why is this being brought up again?? And if it IS happening again, considering there is a warning letter right next to your phone, then people are pretty bone-headed:brick:...
