On an earlier post of ours we discussed pictures of Ozzy and Randy in WDW from the early 80's. From that post the conversation grew into bands of the era and their personal impact on everyone. We are products of the 1980's and proud of it... big hair, spandex, MTV (when they played music) and so on.
So now we would like to propose a change at WDW for all of the 80's generation!!!
Let's replace "British Invasion", the Beatles cover band with a Def Leppard cover band!!! Nothing against the Beatles, we like them too, but the England pavillion could use an update and what British band would be better than Def Leppard?!?!?!

Who is with us???

Um, I never wore spandex and I'm proud of that!

But I was raised in the 80's as well but didn't care for the "Hair Bands" as I didn't like that style of music. 80's music had such a wide variety though so it's hard to narrow it down to one style. I was into the 80's Punk/New Wave/Alternative music myself (Depeche Mode, Thompson Twins, Duran Duran, Dead Milkmen, The Cure, Howard Jones, Art of Noise, ABC, etc.) most of which were from England. Would love to see a concert series like that sometime! :sohappy:

Def Leppard isn't nearly as recognizable as the Beatles. Despite the Beatles being older, I think it is more 'timeless' music, whereas putting in a Def Leppard cover band would seem really dated.

I HEART Def Leppard!

"Pour some sugar on Me" is one of my ringtones..:)

That being said..I think it would not be that great in the park..I love The Beatles also..:) and it really should not be replaced

I love Def Leppard! My parents hated that I loved them. They were country all the way and it killed them that I was so into Def Leppard.

We need time for things to happen.
Uhmm..

I am assuming this post is in jest...uh..yeah it has to be.
I mean I was a teenager and played in bands that played Def Leppard - I was even a fan....but seriously...???
I mean to even compare the two is ridiculous...
WDWFIGMENT - you're one million percent right: "timeless" is the right word when speaking of the Beatles - influential, changed the face of music. Def Leppard? A really good eighties band whose sound did not change 1 bit from their first album to their last...
Oh boy..I just went on a rant. Sorry, sorry I am musician - the subject is close to the heart. Just my opinion and everybody is entitled to theirs...and again I am guessing it was all in jest....
Armageddon it!! hehhehe:animwink:

I love Def Leppard and I'm very proud to admit that I'm a huge fan of 80's Hair Metal! I must say though that the term Metal must be used very loosely in describing Def Leppard. I personally have never understood Beatlemania...yeah, they were a good band but they were/are very highly overrated in my opinion. The Beatles were a worldwide cultural phenomenon so I understand why they have a place at the UK pavilion though.

I would much rather see Maiden, Priest or even Sabbath represented in the UK and while they're at it they need to get Scorpions to play at Biergarten...that would be so awesome!:D

Last trip to the world, as we walked by the American Pavillion, Loverboy was playing. Recognized the song but, they band did not look the same at all. I hate to say it, there was one guy rockin' out and his wife was looking at the crowd appologetically. So, not sure if a Def Leppard cover band would work. Besides, High and Dry was their only good album...

LOL-When I was living in Ft Lauderdale as a kid I went to see DL at the Hollywood Sportitorium in 1984.

My Dad who was divorced from my Mom thought it would be cool to take me and my brother to see them. Well he had an emergency meeting out of state so my Mom had to take us. I was 14 brother was 9.-lol

Everyone around us was smoking Pot and my Mom was sooooooo mad.

Next day I proudly wore my DL concert tee to school.
Good times.:D
