Great hardship this, but looks like we'll be returning to WDW in early June for 10 days. We've stayed in Port Orleans Riverside and Caribbean Beach before, but are this time looking at somewhere a bit different, and CSR may fit that bill.

Looking at Google Earth, the Cabanas Village looks the quietest area and has a good sized "beach" (hopefully with hammocks!). Transportation looks good too, as while we'll have a car I'll be off in it for a few days doing non-Disney things.

What do you all think of CSR? Does anyone have any good pictures of the resort. Comments and advice gratefully received!

Also, never been in June. We are going 5th-15th, what's the weather like that time of year?

And one more question - is a 10 day MYW ticket with park hopper really over $600? That seems a lot, can get an annual pass cheaper than that. I got the prices from the WDW site....

I stayed once in April and absolutly loved. The theming of the resort is amazing, the pool is great, and the lobby is pretty cool to. I remember staying in a quiet area but I'm not sure what the name of that section was, I do know it was towards the back of the resort. Last time I went was 2002 so I don't remember my exact location. Overall its a great resort and you will enjoy it.

Good questions, maybe I can help with some answers.:)

We stayed there last fall, and LOVED the resort! The Cabanas are very well located.:)

You can find a couple of pictures I took at
My Smugmug site

Here is a sample

and one with the requisite hammock (left side of frame)

June will be quite warm, and pretty humid too!:brick: But there will be occasional thunderstorms to cool it down!

No worries though, as I am in fact going to be there at the same time. I will be at AKL from June 8th-13th.

Enjoy your "hardship":animwink::lol:

  • An Adult [age 10+] Annual pass costs $477.12, a child AP is $420.68.
  • A 10-day hopper is $287.55/Adult and $247.08/Child.
So, if you're likely to do a second trip within the following 12 months, then APs are the way to go. I'm not sure how the WDW site showed you $600+ unless it was a combined total for your family? But then, their site is horrendously bad when it comes to getting information.

Enjoy your hardship trip!

I have never stayed at Coronado Springs but after knowing several people who have recently stayed there I am planning on booking my next trip there. Everyone I have talked to has had nothing but positive things to say about it. The pool there also seems really awesome!

Early June is a good time to go. The weather isn't insanely hot yet, only some schools in the US are out then, and the parks start staying open later again. If you are going to stay in Disney for that long and think you may be back to Disney within the next year, definitely purchase an Annual Pass. Discounts for room reservations and food will become available to you if you are AP holders. Here is some info about the Disney Dining Experience you will be eligible for if you purchase APs. http://allearsnet.com/din/dde.htm

Have a magical trip! If you decide to stay at Coronado I would be interested in hearing about your experience in a trip report...I am beginning to get the feeling it is one of the best kept secrets of Disney resorts!

Coronado is great. The pool is awesome and the cabanas is very conveinent place to stay. We liked the lounge at night and the food court had great food. We even thought the bus service ran bettter than other places, but that could have just been our immaginations. You won't regret staying at Coronado.

Stayed there last Nov. was very quiet, nice room, set up like most regular rooms in WDW but larger with a small fridge in the room. Spread out but the main pool is very good. Pepper Market was fantastic, but stay away from the lentil soup went right through me tasted good though. And The Maya Grill was the best thing there, the servers when asked will tell you what the design of the place represents. Enjoy! Less than a month for the AKLV with a grand Gathering.........CAN'T WAIT!!!:sohappy:

The pass for over $600 is the Premium Annual Pass, which runs $616. If he is going in June, then I would guess he would want to go to the water parks, so I would get the PAP.

Also, the best thing about Coronado is the bus service. You very rarely will have a full bus, because of all the convention goers.

Stayed there and love it. It was quiet but lots of fun. Pool is awesome and views are great. Food was delicious there(Maya Grill), too. We were also near the quiet pool and it was really peaceful. Resort is gorgeous. Great pic spots all over.

I think the prices you saw may have been for your whole family. The longer you stay, the cheaper each day becomes.

After several trips in which we enjoyed the hospitality of Caribbean Beach Resort, the wife insisted that we stay at Coronado-So much in fact, that the entire trip hinged upon this acquiescence. I relented and thus began one of the most enjoyable trips to WDW.

As most here have stated, the theming is top notch. Since it's not a budget resort, you won't have kids running around screaming all over the place. It's partially a convention center too, so you'll find a more professional type of guest- at least we did when we enjoyed it in late September.

We stayed at the Cabanas and rarely came across other guests except at the pool. Speaking of the pool, it's large and wonderful. Set amidst a giant pyramid, you can find all manner of relaxation. If you're daring and willing to stand in line with a bunch of kids- the Jaguar Slide is a lot of fun. It's a water slide that's longer than your average pool slide. During one day of our trip, we rode the slide over and over in the rain. No lightning and a perfect temperature. It was wonderful...

We had the Dining Plan so we enjoyed the Maya Grill a couple times. The Filet Mignon was decent, but paled compared to the vastly superior steak at Kona at the Polynesian. A great eatery for those who can afford it or the plan. The main food dispensary was this cafeteria that was inefficient and costly. This was the weakest element of the resort, plus you have to pay a tip for relatively little service.

If it means anything, my wife and I expect to stay there again this year...
