i love both, but dinosaur allways scared me! well, the last time i rode it it didnt, now i can pose fot the pic! jajajaja but still kindda scare me LOL, but the only 2 reasons i rode JPRA is that, well im a HUGE fan of the movies, and because of the fall, i love it!! but i think both games are great, i rode dinosaur like 4 times on a row, and the last time was the last call for the game:)

In Jurassic Park, why is there a random 80ft drop in the warehouse? And for that matter, why is there a lifthill and water canals going through it? It's these things that make you realize that while Universal may have put a lot of detail into the ride, there are several gaping plot holes that smack of laziness. Dinosaur, on the other hand, makes complete sense in terms of ride system.

As a theme park nerd, Dinosaur has always impressed me a lot more, even with the obvious cutbacks in the theming. Dinosaur uses a high tech, custom ride system, and, even though its the same as Indy, its still impressive. The story is also pretty decent, too. I've never felt that the setup and pre-show are cheesy like some people think.

The best thing about Dinosaur is how everything makes you feel like you are truly in the action, thanks to the ride vehicle and ride system.

Jurassic Park - I like the setup, and how the boat ride you are on is supposed to be a slow, educational tour like the jeeps in the original movie. But in the end, it feels like exactly what it is - a longer, taller "chute" ride with elaborate theming. You never really feel connected to the action at all, if that makes any sense. There is no intensity, unless waiting for the plunge makes you nervous.

The theming for JP, and well, almost all of Islands of Adventure, feels like the theming options you get in the Rollercoaster Tycoon games. You build a standard amusement park ride system, and you can place theming around the track to enhance the ride, but not as if the ride was designed to where that theming is part of the ride.

I enjoyed Dinosaur a lot more before I had the chance to ride Indy at DL. I know that shouldn't effect my opinion, but I can't help thinking about what could've been if the sets were completely fleshed out like Indy.

^ I actually love the loudness of Dinosaur. It really adds to the intensity. Oh, I forgot to add, I think the "asteroid impact" finale of Dinosaur is one of the creepiest and most effective endings, ever. It gives me chills every time.

I agree completely! I was just about to say the same thing! I love Dinosaur, I can ride it many times and it still feel authentic and real to me.

I love DTR but don't think it can be fairly compared to a water ride like JP. It's actually a shame its so dark in DTR because the sets are amazing (I've seen it lit up). I remember riding it as CTX and it seemed like a lot more effects were used back then; I wish they'd bring some of them back because I loved them. However, DTR is still a great ride IMO :-)

Does anyone else find themselves saying the "definitely not our dino!" line along with the dino institute character?
hahaha i always say that!!! hahaha love to say it! hahh

and about that it so dark, yeah its a shame! :( but, at the same time it gives you(or at least me) a more intense ride, and because im afraid of the dark(belive it or not haha) i feel sooooo scary at Dinosaurs but i still LOVE IT LOVE IT

I agree! JP has a good drop, but its .. random. so weird that its budget was a 100 million (at least in hollywood).. where did all the money go?
dinosaur is much better.. does anyone know the budget for dinosaur?

We got Dinosaur because they didnt want to invest the money to bring the Indy ride to WDW, plain and simple..
Nope - CTX began as an outside attraction, loosely based on the 1st gen EMV (developed for EuroDisney phase 2). The attraction moved inside as it became more ambitious, and the 2nd gen EMV was perfect for the story. At the time bringing Indy to WDW wasn`t an option - it ironically was to have gone to the now renamed DLP.

In Jurassic, all of the robotic dinos are so poorly maintained that they resemble Rainforest Cafe animatronics. There is no storyline in Jurassic, except that the raptors get loose (after an already boring boat ride) and force us down a drop that everyone knows is coming.

I like Dinosaur, but its just too dang LOUD. If they just turned down the voume, I could probably enjoy it more. Plus I think they should get rid of the Dinosaur movie tie-in and name it back to Countdown to Extinction since the movie was such a flop.

You try telling the Carnotaurus to lower its volume, and see if you still have a head. :lookaroun

The very first time I road the Dinosaur ride, back when it was called Countdown to Extinction (cool name by the way) I thought it was awesome (still do actually). It was fun, a little scary, you just didn't know what was going to happen next. Even multiple rides on it didn't decrease my enjoyment of it, it made it better. The ride car was awesome, the sounds of the dinosaurs, the dark, the Carnosaurs coming at you, just awesome.

So, when the time came to finally ride Jurassic Park I was very excited. I loved the first movie and thought a ride based off of it would be equally great. So I rode it and hated it. It was boring. Boring, boring, boring. It lacked everything that made Dinosaur great.

Dinosaur felt more like Jurassic Park to me. It was as if Disney took all the excitement and adventure from the movie and put it into their ride, while Universal made the dumbest ride ever based off of an amazing film.

Is there anyone else out there who feels this way?
I agree, JP does not match up to the excitment of Dinosaur.

Everytime I ride Dinosaur I always wish I could see what the building looks like from above. It's one of those rides that seems to go on forever, reaching high levels, lots of turns and then coming back to ground level again. Most rides I just get on and enjoy, this one makes me think about it's construction. Does anyone else find themselves saying the "definitely not our dino!" line along with the dino institute character?

Its nice to have the blueprints :king: VERY interesting.

Yep, I AGREE about about both the loudness and the cool ending :D Dinosaur is one of my favorite rides and I'm shocked to see how many people overlook this amazing attraction. DAK does a great job of hiding it from plain view, but I think that it adds to the storyline of a mysterious "institute" in the middle of nowhere. My trip to DAK just isnt complete without riding Dinosaur.
