Dinosaur VS Jurassic Park Ride

You are correct that it is an exaggeration, but it's more than twice the size you are proposing:

Carnotaurus was a medium-sized theropod, about 9.0 m (30 ft) in length, 3.5 m (10 ft 7 in) tall at the hips, and weighing about 1,600 kg (1.76 tons). The most distinctive features of Carnotaurus are the two thick horns above the eyes, and the extremely reduced forelimbs with four fingers.[2] It had a small skull, a thick chest, and a thin tail. The eyes of the Carnotaurus faced forward, which is unusual in a dinosaur, and may indicate binocular vision and depth perception.

A single nearly complete skeleton has been described including impressions of skin along almost the entire right side, that show Carnotaurus lacked feathers, unlike the more advanced coelurosaurian theropods (see also feathered dinosaurs). Instead, the skin is lined with rows of bumps, that become larger toward the spine.

PS, as most have said, simply no comparison between Dinosaur and JP, Dinosaur has so much more!

Hmmmm.... Note that the height is given as 10'7" *at the hip*. That sounds about right (or even more than) the hip measurement on the Carno AA's in the attraction. Obviously when the Carno stands upright, they'll be taller than that 10' measurement.

Side note, you might want to at least give your sources due credit (i.e. Wikipedia in this case) for the facts you posted.

I still remember the first time I rode Dinosaur. I was so excited. I love Dinosaurs and the top 7 video in the room made it look so amazing. Then I rode it and was completely underwhelmed. I looked at my wife when I got off and we both said, that's it? I'll ride it again, but its not anywhere on my list of things to do.

However I've ridden JP tons of times. I love that ride. I guess I'm just not much of a thrill junkie and to me Jurassic Park really captured the feel of what a tour through the real Jurassic Park would be like. Yes, the lift hill doesn't really fit into the story but the drop represents us running from the T-Rex. When everything is working on this ride it looks amazing and feels just like JP. The reason these dinos aren't incredibly dynamic is because they are outside all the time. Its not possible to do fully detailed AA's in an outside environment. Keeping that in mind, I think they do a great job with them.

JP for me... Different rides though. So they have Dino's in common. I hardly ever ride Dinosaur anymore. Unless there is no wait and we are going by. Otherwise it's sort of lame to me. But JP I like to ride over and over, as do my kids.
I think it's the story line cuz I love Indy at Disneyland. But I just get bored in Dinosaur... Sorry....

I think it all depends on personal preference. Some people don't like water rides or big drops so they aren't going to like Jurassic Park. Other people don't like being jostled around so they wouldn't like Dinosaur.

I have been on both and I don't really like either, to me they are both very average but I would say that with no line for each I would ride Dinosaur instead of JP.

hehe .. maybe I should have know... the pounds do also differ .. but the metric system is so commonly used (I heard meters, kilometers and celsius so often during my 2007 trip ) I assumed we had assimilated your measurements already :D

resistance (Ohm) is futile

people tend to forget or are not aware that Dinosaur is actualy themed in a way after the movie of it's same name. It features Aladar the main character the iguanadon as well as the styracasaurus and brachiosaurus.

Well since no one actually saw the movie, thats probably why they're not aware of it

I thought JP was the biggest let down. Walking thru the gates when coming into that area of the park. The theming, the foilage. I was really getting into it and was saying "man that must be an awesome ride."

I rode it and when I got off all I could think of was the Jeff Goldblum line from the first movie "Are there supposed to be dinosaurs on the dinosaur ride" I think they had one working all the others were just standing there still and not moving. And looked so cheesey. The drop was nothing special. The only plus, the look of the ride vehicles and que house very well themed

I completely agree! I was (still am) a HUGE fan of Jurassic Park, the book and the movie. I was so, so excited about seeing that part of IoA, just to see what they did with the theming. In my opinion, the area is cute, and kinda well done (do they still have the John Williams music playing under everything?), but Dinoland is MUCH more detailed and interesting. And I barely remember riding JP the ride, and really have no need to ride it again unless I was already there and there was no wait, etc...
Dinosaur, on the other hand, I ride EVERY time I'm at DAK, and I LOVE it. I was seriously freaked out by the finale the first time I rode it (I have the picture to prove it), and it still makes me a little anxious every time we go under the Carnotaurus at the end.
I've also been on Indy at DL, and while it was fun (and the theming excellent!), it seemed a little dated. I don't see why people make such a big stink over Indy vs. CTX

I saw it, but that still made me giggle! (Really, I don't see the need for the tie-in, and it's a little forced even if you HAVE seen the movie.)

Dinoland more detailed than JP? The rides are arguable, but I can't see this. Did you go in the Discovery Center at all in JP?

Yeah, I did. I don't remember much, to be honest. It might be that I had such high expectations for JP (because of the movie and book), and already had a picture of what it should be in my head, and I don't think the area lived up to those expectations. In Dinoland, I didn't have any expectations, so it was fun finding all the little things that further the storyline there. IoA is a great park, but I think DAK is better, and that includes their dinosaur rides/lands...

Anyone else think it would be funny if the statue of the dino from JP3 had a sound effect coming from it that sounded like the goofy satellite phone from JP3? Anyone remember the sound I'm talking about?
