Castle kiss goodnight

I was watching some videos on youtube last night and I watched one about the castle kiss goodnight. Is this something that they do every night at closing, and how long ofter official park closing do they do this? I have never seen this before or I just have not payed attention to it.

I want to think it's either 30 mins or one hour after Wishes. Neat to watch, especially since usually by the time it "fires," the park is pretty empty. So it's kind of like your own personal "goodbye" from Walt et al.

i mean it looks cool (really, i love the castle, it gives me goosebumps every time), but what do you mean by "kiss"? Or, is that just some fancy way of saying a little extra something on the goodbye?

I can't say if they do this every night or not, but I can tell you that it is done and often. The last time I saw it done was in Feb as we were waiting for the security sweep to walk by so we could work on Main Street.

Mickey does normally do a nightly good bye from the train station.

Kiss Goodnight... *shivers*... I love that... it tugs at my heartstrings evertime! It's worth the wait!

I don't know why they call it that there is no kissing involved. I think it's reference to saying goodnight. Kinda like a goodnight kiss!

It's usually 30 to 60 minutes after park closing, I don't think it's played every night, when I saw it (in 2005) we asked at the Town Hall on Mainstreet what time it was playing, they checked and told us. It's kinda nice, we bought an ice cream cone and some pop and just hung out near Walt and waited, it's nice to watch everything kinda gear down, and it's... it's a kiss goodnight!

Nope, this is something extra, long after Wishes is over, and after the park technically "closes". The shops on Main Street stay open long after the rest of the park closes though, so once you know if and when it will happen when you're there, just hang out and you'll catch it. Lots of people say that it's actually meant to be something special for the cast at the end of the night. I don't know if that's true, but I can see how it would be.

A word of warning out of personal experience though... MANY people don't know about it, including cast members and even Guest Relations people at town hall. I've had to go through a bunch of people to find someone that actually knew what I was talking about, and even more people till I could get someone to confirm dates and times.

Also, as I understand it, the dates and times for this aren't out WAYYY in advance like the rest of the fireworks schedules, etc.

Kiss Goodnight is typically presented about an hour after offical closing. It is not presented on Special event nights such as Mickey's not so scary Halloween, Night of Joy, Very Merry Christmas, etc. It is simply a lighing show on the castle. I believe it's listed on the cast member times guide, but I have to double check that.

I asked a cast member in the area who didn't know what it was. So then they asked another, asked another, etc... Eventually they brought a manager over to me (one of the guys with a shirt and tie on). He radioed City Hall and asked, and gave me the answer. All in all, I bet it was 20 minutes after I had asked the first cast member.

On trips since then, I've cut out the middle man and went straight to city hall. But surprisingly, even there I've had CM's who haven't known right off the bat what I was talking about, and they've had to ask others.

It's one of the little gems that set Disney apart, and I highly recommend sticking it out late one night to check it out. One of the best parts about it is actually how late it happens... Hardly anyone knows about it, and even less wait for it. I've seen it once with a group of only maybe 10 other people standing there with us. No one else in the hub at all, anywhere. That was a pretty cool memory. Felt like we were the only ones in the MK at all.

I had never heard of this before I saw the video. We are going next week and I hope that they are doing it the night we are there.

It's the special little things like this that I love so much about Disney. If anyone knows anything else about it, or anything else like this that Disney does that a lot of us don't know about, please post.

Kiss Goodnight is a Castle Lighting show ONLY, with audio that sync only in the hub area. It is presented nightly after park close at 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 90 minutes after Park Close. That is...barring any unforseen programming circumstances or special events.

"Goodnight Mickey" was a separate offering that occured about a year to a year and a half ago, and that was with Mickey waving goodbye at the train station. This offering is no longer occuring.
