Really? I didn't think they increased that much every year. A good growth stock account can average 12% over 10 years... I'm starting now!
When I went to our local college, I had an $800 state scholarship which covered my tuition and part of my R&B. I was able to earn the rest of what I needed doing factory work in the summers. Now, that same school costs about
$16,000, and our lovely state grants amount to about $300 per year. That's why DS is not going to an in-state school here.

Saving for us is just not realistic. We've never been good at saving (and no, I'm not proud of that), but Joel may or may not live with us the rest of our lives; I can't predict his future either behaviorally or medically, but I do know it will not be inexpensive. So, as a result, Abby loses out and we have to hope and pray her grades will help her secure academic scholarships. And yes, I feel very guilty about that. :(
Never feel guilty about that Jenn - and Abby will do fine with scholarships.

Thanks, hon (and Kat as well); can't help it, though, guilt was ingrained in me.

BTW, Betty, liked your comments on the latest wand thread. :D I couldn't care less about the thing!

I went to undergrad on a scholarship so that helped a lot. I couldn't have gone without it. Grad school was all loans, which I've been paying off now.

This story broke today in my town. DH has been hearing quite a bit about it recently at work but I guess it just went public. This type of stuff is happening way too often recently.
Unfortunately any place where children are involved is considered fair game by predators, and they make their way to them. When DD was in high school, one of her teachers was caught making some pretty indecent propositions to a couple of junior high girls over the internet. Fortunately the parents saw the messages and reported it, and he was fired and arrested.

I know there was a district a little bit north who had a girls' softball coach that was passing out s e x toys. And would you believe there were parents who protested her being fired because they didn't want to see the team start losing? Some people have absolutely the most twisted principles. :brick:

Hi Freddy! How was your day?
Looooong.

My Foods teacher (again with this damn ) got mad at me.
The only thing we were doing in class today was eating the white bread we made yesterday.
I had to interview the librarian for an article in the school newspaper.
I asked her if I could go do that.
She said 'Sure.'
I got the interview done in about 5 minutes.
The librarian starting chatting with me.
Which was fine, I love the librarian.
She's a really sweet lady.
When I get back to Foods, the teacher gives me a real snappy comeback, like 'what took so long?'
I didn't explain the whole thing, which I guess I should have.
It wasn't my fault the librarian was feeling chatty!
