MLB Playoffs Pick-Em!

Cards have always been a boring team. Tigers vs. Cards wouldn't be as lame as last year's crap, but yeah, it would still be pretty lame. Tigers vs. Mets would be interesting because they are two good teams that we don't ever see in the WS.

So were the White Sox and the Astros... :lookaroun

I don't think they were good teams (both, especially the Astros, are just like the Cards to me) though. :p

Oh, they're not. The Astros have a horrific ball park while have probably the best ball park in the baseball world.

Yes, tonite's going really bad for us, but its not over until its over.

To be honest, I think a Mets vs. Tigers would be a boring series ( and I'm not saying that as a biased Cardinals fan. ) I can only imagine one teem sweeping the other.

The Tigers won't be swept, not the way they're playing right now. Presumably, whoever wins the NLCS will have a better shot at winning a few games against Detroit than whoever loses, be it the Mets or your Birdos.

I don't know why, but something about it tells me that it will be a boring series. Either way, if the Mets beat us and go to the WS, I hope Detroit beats the tar out of them like the White Sox did to the overrated Astros.

Tigers/Cardinals rematch of the 1968 Series. BEST SERIES EVER. EVER.

The AL is so strong that it doesn't matter who Detroit plays. Dominance is the name of the game right now for the AL.

Why do you call them overrated?

The Cardinals won 100 games in the regular season last year and had the best record in the NL by 10 games heading into the playoffs. The Astros were the Wild Card and finished 11 games behind St. Louis, but beat them in the NLCS.

The Cardinals were everybody's favorite to win the NL at the start of the playoffs a year ago, while the Astros barely got a mention, but Houston won the pennant. If anything, the CARDINALS were overrated and the Astros were UNDERrated last year, since they went further than anybody expected.

Whichever team you're a fan of, them's just facts.

The biggest difference I see right now is starting pitching. Detroit's starters have been phenomenal in the playoffs, while nobody on the NL side has been able to string together more than one good outing on the mound. Once you get past Glavine for the Mets and Carpenter for the Cards, both teams are seriously vulnerable. You have to think that with the way Detroit has been hitting, they're going to absolutely feast on whoever's pitching to them next week.

I agree. I really wish I had picked Tigers over the Mets for my series choice. But if the series ends up being Tigers and Mets I win this game anyway.

Both the Mets and Cardinals have been giving poor performances in this series.

You know, you really did a great job in picking these matchups. I'm serious in tipping my Yankees cap to you for a job well done.

However........

did anyone ever stop to consider that it's just as equally impressive that I was able to miss everyone of them?

Or do I just suck?

Exactly. When the Cardinals have to resort to starting Jeff Weaver in Game 1 or the Mets are looking at Darren Oliver, Oliver Perez, or Steve Trachsel for a Game 7, the Tigers must be salivating.

You are right. I only got 3/4 in the first round right. You got all 4 wrong! :sohappy:

Very true! I don't know why I never mentioned that before...

Because the Astros keep winning games because of their cheap homeruns in that awful ballpark of theirs. Its like having two good basketball players, one tall, and one short. The tall guy raises the hoop to his hight so he can score baskets, while the little guy has alot more difficulty trying to shoot a basket.

Visiting teams get just as many at-bats/chances as the Astros do.

That's a BS analogy, dude. Both teams swing for the same fences. If they were moving them in when the Astros came up to bat, you'd have an argument.
