MLB Playoffs Pick-Em!

Dwarful

P.S. Anyone else think "Pujols" is the most hilarious name in MLB?

We have had quite a few over the years in St. Louis..its really funny when you hear someone who acts like they follow baseball and they say it like "puh joles" ...another favorite comes from back in the 80's w/ "walking underware"...or juaquin andohar...he hated it w/they called him walking underware.

btw: seems like a lot of people hate st. louis..why is that? Selig couldn't even say Ecksteins name correctly...uh, wasn't he listening to any of the game? I know John Ullett announced the players before the game...so he should have at least heard his name once in his life and managed to get it correct when naming him WS MVP!

I wouldn't call it hate, but Detroit was the darling of the media this entire season considering how bad they were just three seasons ago (43-119). They were the "feel good" story of 2006 and yes, they were rightfully favored in the Series. The way St. Louis "backed" into the Series didn't exactly endear them to a lot of people. They simply pulled it together at the right time and took advantage of every mistake Detroit made--the Tigers gave up the most unearned runs in the World Series in 50 years.

As for Eckstein, that's Selig for you. Eck-STEEN, Eck-STINE, he's heard it both ways before, but he still should have gotten that one right.

If you pronounce Pujols' name in clear Spanish dialect its more like "Poo-hose." But yes, I feel guilty because I laughed at Pujols' name when I first heard it five years ago. Little did I know that he would become the best player in baseball...

And yeah, that was weird that Selig didn't pronounce Eckstein's name right. What was up with that?

That's true. People have called Detroit's season a Cinderella story, while I'd call St. Louis' season an Anakin Skywalker story.
