Is Chef Mickey's worth is for a buffet dinner?

No, it is not close to as good as Boma.

Boma is very good food and no characters.

Chef Mickey's is mediocre food with characters.

Tusker House is the hybrid of the two.
This sums it up exactly! The only times that we went to Chef Mickey's was when our kids were little because they liked it. But we always came away not liking any of the food. I love Boma and that is the only sit down restaurant that I have to go to every trip.

No. It is loud, crowded with really bad food. The characters move through so quickly you will miss them if you go to the buffet. Only worse buffet is Hollywood and Vine. Tusker House is so much better for characters and for food Boma.

Not worth the $$$.
Is anything in WDW worth the $$$. I will answer that. No.

One of my tips is, if you got little kids that want to meet characters, I recommend for both you and your kid, use Chef Mickey as a character meet and great. You are in the AC, seated, eating, and your kids get to meet characters.

Especially in this heat!

If you're looking to meet the fab 5 without waiting at meet n greets then its worth it but as far as the food choices and quality its not really worth the price.
I'd much rather choose somewhere like Garden Grill. Food is better IMO, relaxed quiet atmosphere, all you care to eat but you also don't have to get up, more unique characters experiences, plus it rotates.
This is the way my family feels. We go for the grandkids to have a meet and greet with the Fab 5 and avoid the long meet n greets. The food is below average and certainly not worth the price. The issue is what price do you put on not using time in the parks waiting in lines for the characters?

If your children are of a certain age (5 to 10?) it is truly a magical dining experience. After that point it's time to move on. Way too pricy for the quality of food you get. Same applies to Crystal Palace.

It's like paying for a Lighning Lane meet and greet that also has food.
If you have kids who want to meet the characters, and you don't want to use your time in parks waiting on line? Worth it.
If you're going for the food? No.

Best character meal in my opinion when it comes to food choices and quality is hands down Tusker House.
I find the quality of the character interaction there also above the norm.
Recommended.

If its got peel and eat shrimp I can make it less non-economical, but for the most part Disney buffets , specially the character ones are not worth it financially.

I have not really had too many bad meals in Disney World. I can't even count how many places I have been to and how many times. I have been to Chef Mickey's a few times. It was always just okay, but a fun time.

We went this past November and it was honestly the worst meal I have ever had in my life. All the adults ended up eating the kids food because it was "better" than what they gave us.

I can't think of any compelling reason to eat at Chef Mickey's when Tusker House exists, except maybe if you're staying at the Contemporary.

Just returned from an 8 day stay where we split time at Contemporary Villa and Beach Club Villa.

We did most all buffets it seems besides Boma .

Trucker House, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, Hollywood and Vine, Cinderella Castle (better food than the "buffets") Cape May (ate about 75 steamed clams... 2 buckets). I think the buffets are fine for what they are if you want to meet characters (made the 12 year olds trip and ours too... its fun)

Can always find something to eat and get full - even at breakfast which I dont particularly like so I had 25 rolls of smoked salmon.

Oh, and gotta give a thumbs down to Le Celeir- my little brother and I both got the ribeye medium rare and they both came out medium well. What an awful and dry steak. My dad, however, had a wonderfully red looking filet so he gives it a thumbs up. We should have told them and had them recook it bc now its just a bad experience and ill probably never go back.

What food do they have nowadays on the buffet?

IIRC, we first ate there in ~ 2012 and I was pleasantly surprised. Partially that may have been because I had read very mixed reviews beforehand so my expectations were low. But that year, they did have passable grocery store-level sushi on the buffet, the roast beef was rather good, and to my delight, they had stone crab claws.

We ended up going the next year, and it was prety much all slop. No sushi. Or stone crab despite it being in season. I think we all ended up eating a lot of salads.

Folks should experience Chef Mickey’s once. It’s not as good as it was in the old days but nothing at WDW is. As I said, folks should experience it once especially if you got young kids who wants to meet some characters.

When our kid was young, this was a great place to meet some characters, indoor, air conditioned and a buffet for the adults 😀

If you have children, then this is a great place for dinner for all to enjoy and get pictures and make some memories. Buffets are so-so to good depending on the food choices available. For adults, I prefer a quieter relaxed dinner environment. But when kids or grand kids are involved then chef Mickey's is a must do.
