In all the conversations about Rachel I must have missed this. What did gadot do?I don’t think it’s a majority of the other half, but a not insignificant portion are being kept away by Gadot.

That seems really, really unlikely to me. The idea that cinema-goers on the left or the right care about either actress to the extent that’s being suggested here just doesn’t ring true.I don’t think it’s a majority of the other half, but a not insignificant portion are being kept away by Gadot.
I preferred Snow White to Mufasa, including the music. “I Always Wanted a Brother” has to be one of the most irritating songs ever composed!Side note: I put Mufasa on D+, predicting it would be background fodder as I prepped for our first trip to Costa Rica this Sunday, wondering if it would even play all the way through (as I had seen it in theaters in early January.)
I ended up sitting down and watching all the way through (to the detriment of my laundry.)
It will be interesting to see the streaming numbers since Moana 2 is still relatively fresh to the platform.
Not sure if this was already shared and I missed it but it was from a couple days ago, blue counties typically represent 67% of total movie ticket sales but only 60% of Snow Whites ticket sales, which ironically means it’s overperforming in red counties and underperforming in blue counties. This got me thinking. If, as has been claimed, Zegler’s comments are keeping half the country away, why is the other half not showing up either?
According to many here, including and especially the poster you’ve declared our resident expert, @TP2000, a very large number of people cared deeply about Zegler’s statements. I tend to share your scepticism in this regard.8 billion people are that opinionated about gal gadot and Rachel Zegler?
Gadot is not Jewish…she’s Israeli. And makes no bones about her opinions. In all the conversations about Rachel I must have missed this. What did gadot do?
That doesn’t surprise me at all and only bears out how needlessly political people have made this. Not sure if this was already shared and I missed it but it was from a couple days ago, blue counties typically represent 67% of total movie ticket sales but only 60% of Snow Whites ticket sales, which ironically means it’s overperforming in red counties and underperforming in blue counties.

‘Snow White’: How Controversial Disney Princess Fared In Blue & Red County Cinemas – Box Office
'Snow White' did better in blue states at the domestic box office, however, the Disney movie overperformed in red states.deadline.com
Enough to tank a movie to this level worldwide?According to many here, including and especially the poster you’ve declared our resident expert, @TP2000, a very large number of people cared deeply about Zegler’s statements. I tend to share your scepticism in this regard.
Don’t think it can be discussed here, but a quick google should help.In all the conversations about Rachel I must have missed this. What did gadot do?
As someone who spends more time on sites like FB and Instagram, I’ll tell you what I tell the folks who doubt racism: the proof is in the posting. Every Disney post about this film has about 20-35% support and positive reviews, about 10-15% general “woke Disney” comments, about 35-40% anti-Rachel comments for all the different reasons, and about 15-20% anti-Gadot comments (not including the ones about her acting) which have ramped up since the film was released and she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. That seems really, really unlikely to me. The idea that cinema-goers on the left or the right care about either actress to the extent that’s being suggested here just doesn’t ring true.

I didn’t even realize Mufasa was on D+ already, I’ll have to go check it out.Side note: I put Mufasa on D+, predicting it would be background fodder as I prepped for our first trip to Costa Rica this Sunday, wondering if it would even play all the way through (as I had seen it in theaters in early January.)

I agree about “Brothaaaa” and thought so immediately in the theater, but overall, I enjoyed Mufasa more.I preferred Snow White to Mufasa, including the music. “I Always Wanted a Brother” has to be one of the most irritating songs ever composed!
Maybe there’s a typo here, but she’s Jewish too—as most Israelis are. And if you mean she’s not religious (I don’t know one way or the other), one doesn’t have to be in order to be Jewish—it’s an ethnicity as well as a religion.Gadot is not Jewish…she’s Israeli.

Not really. It’s true that a great deal of over-the-top outrage has been whipped up around Zegler—witness this very forum—and it was already at boiling point long before her political statements. That didn’t just happen organically; whether you call it a hate network or not, certain influential voices generated and fed the frenzy. So it defangs “the hate network” myth for this one
I haven’t even seen the first Moana yet.I didn’t even realize Mufasa was on D+ already, I’ll have to go check it out.
It pains me to say this since Moana is one of my all time favorite Disney movies but I haven’t even finished Moana 2 yet, I’ve tried several times over the last couple weeks but I just can’t get into it, it kind of gives me 90s straight to video vibes.
I don’t take online posts (including whatever we say here) to be representative of what ordinary people out there in the real world think. Most people I know have no idea about any of these supposed controversies.Don’t think it can be discussed here, but a quick google should help.
