Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I don’t think anyone here is especially influential, but a few posters have absolutely contributed (sometimes knowingly and repeatedly) to all the pot-stirring and spread of disinformation.
lol…nothing any of us says here means anything. It’s a couple dozen people kicking the ball around

Stop doubling down on the hate network. You are being disrespectful to strangers every time you try to slip it in.

You don’t know me or what I believe or who I support. You don’t know “others” such as a TP or Erasure. How arrogant.

Bad movies don’t sell tickets. Since the beginning of time. For every Shawshank that slipped through the cracks…there are 2,000 that get exactly what they earned. You need to go with Occam’s razor

The movie was developed during a time when people were critical of the classic princesses. If it had come out before the pandemic I think it would've been better received too.

Actually the politics around it have taken a pretty distinct reversal in recent months…

So if anything it should have gotten a “bump”…in a bizarre way.

The world turned upside down

I don’t take online posts (including whatever we say here) to be representative of what ordinary people out there in the real world think. Most people I know have no idea about any of these supposed controversies.
First right comment of the day…

Then it’s just unwanted…without some type of skull and bones conspiracy

Simple

Which is why I began my post with “I don’t think anyone here is especially influential”.

You don’t know me or what I believe or who I support. You don’t know “others” such as a TP or Erasure. How arrogant.
Why on earth do you think I’m talking about you? You’re not part of any network—you just barge in here periodically, misunderstand half of what we’re saying, and dump lots of word salad before disappearing until your next visit. Nor was I talking about @erasure fan1, so please don’t sow discord based on what you mistakenly think I’m saying.

Yeah really…because it’s blamed for everytime the overlord corp bombs a movie.

You gotta blame yourself…not me…because it’s been used so much the last 4 years it’s the boy that cried wolf.

The Majority of these movies just suck. Abe would not do well with or without Twitter and the lame Disney fanboy podcasts

Elemental is the one and only movie I can think of that got hit by “the network”…and it still worked out
You just don't actually read posts and constantly strawman what others have said.

Side note: I put Mufasa on D+, predicting it would be background fodder as I prepped for our first trip to Costa Rica this Sunday, wondering if it would even play all the way through (as I had seen it in theaters in early January.)

I ended up sitting down and watching all the way through (to the detriment of my laundry.)

It will be interesting to see the streaming numbers since Moana 2 is still relatively fresh to the platform.
Enjoy Costa Rica! We better se a TR!

Hah! Pot meet kettle. The guy who always has to interject when people use their own numbers, comes out with this Gem. Where's this data that says over 3/4 of people support the other side? Just like the analogy post, if you are going to lecture, please play by your own rules.
Please go back and reread what I actually posted because no where did I claim that.

I might have missed it, but where did Irish state that 75% of the country supports the “other side?” They stated that 3/4ths of potential viewers were not included in Zegler’s condemnation, which is verifiably true.
100% correct, I did not and you got the exact meaning of the post.

Wow - why wasn't there a multiyear long torrent of hate directed at Bell for her seething hatred of Snow White? Why didn't the most powerful people in the world attack her?
Also relevant in this regard are Emma Watson’s remarks:

I was like, “The first shot of the movie cannot be Belle walking out of this quiet little town carrying a basket with a white napkin in it. We need to rev things up!”

And rev things up they did, including by turning LeFou gay!

None of this stirred much feeling at the time as far as I can recall.

So I went and saw it. Mostly based on arguments here, but we wanted to get out of the house and we had a coupon. We would usually watch badly rated movies on streaming. Isn't it nice they always end up there? This was a train wreck. Who wrote this version? A live action is a human remake of a cartoon. This was a demented twist on nonsense. The whole story made little sense. It was like they had an ending and had to write a story to make it work. Not going to back anyone going against Rachel or Gal but I will say I wasted my money. There are probably a lot of people not seeing it for whatever reasons, but this is a bad movie. I wasted my money. If I streamed it I would have wasted my time.

Except for “Shiny”…that’s weird and stupid
That scene came outta nowhere didn't it. While I can't say I hated it, it certainly felt like a totally different movie was taking over.
Nostalgia Critic (Doug Walker) describes those types of odd, outta left-field movie scenes as a "Big Lipped Alligator Moment". There's a funny video on YouTube of he and Lindsay Ellis (Nostalgia Chick) breaking down those odd types of scenes. Can't share it here though due to non-forum-friendly language.

Why do you think the story makes little sense? Whether one likes the film or not, the plot isn’t difficult to follow.
