No one is ganging up on anyone or disrespecting anyone’s opinion. It’s a discussion forum and people are discussing what you and others post.

So are any of the posters you mentioned supposed to feel disrespected and ganged up on when you and others disagree with us? See how that works, this can be turned right back on you. So maybe realize no one is actually doing any of that.

If you want a place where you can just post your thoughts without anyone commenting on them either find place where comments are turned off or there are 100s of blog site out there where you can post all your thoughts unchallenged to your hearts content.

Someone wrote elsewhere that they watched Anora on Hulu and the intro ad said something along the lines of it being brought to them courtesy of Snow White.

So they're using a p*rnographic film to promote Bob Iger's Snow White. Something that would have been wild to hear about 10 years ago.

The controversy surrounding Erivo was mild and mostly just cringeworthy. With Rachel it was just controversy after controversy after controversy, and I think most people are aware even if they don't know every minutiae. All it takes is for someone to tell them "hey did you hear what the actress from Disney's upcoming Snow White remake said?" to make them decide "well then not going to watch the movie now".

You’re making the assumption that the majority (or even half) the movie going public pays attention, most don’t.

Don’t take our little slice of the internet as some indication...

I think that’s already going to happen, this film has had more bad press and negativity surrounding it than any other film I can recall, unless the word of mouth is so good it overrides all the previous press I think it’s already beyond the point half the country will ever give it a chance.

I think you’re far over-estimating the number of people who know or care about early publicity.

I'll bet the average person doesn’t have this on their radar screen and the first they’ll see or hear of it will be the trailer, which looks great.

So personally, looks awful to me. I've been on record for a while that I hate the straight remakes, and this feels like that is exactly what it is (though the actors said otherwise, so who knows at this point).

But, for those worried about the CGI (which does look really awful), that stuff usually does get cleaned up a lot between trailer and release, so don't read TOO much into it. I do agree with whoever said the hair looks bad on her though. I couldn't figure out what looked so off, and that is absolutely what it was. Guess we will see what happens next year.

This is a great point. It’s a bit of recency bias to complain the film was short. For reference, few modern animated films are that much longer than Snow White’s runtime, and falls well within the mean of WDAS output over the decades:

There is length and there is length. What I’m saying is a modern audience would not sit through 80 minutes with so little plot or action.

That’s probably more an indictment of the attention spans of current audiences than the original film, but having recently watched the original I’m confident in my opinion.

I’m confused. Nowhere in any of those comments did I say the film was going to be a great success. My take was that if it failed, it wouldn’t be because of the pre-release publicity.

There are several comments saying that the original was too outdated and problematic to support a live-action remake.

Don’t you know? Box office is only part of the equation now. Think of all the truckloads of money that will come in as people sign up for D+ memberships to watch a B+ Cinemascore movie…once.
