People honestly have blown up whatever it was between them beyond actual reality. I’m sure they aren’t bffs but it’s clear they don’t have any issue being around each other and can smile and looks like they even joke around each other.

With that said even the best of friends fight and dislike each other for a time and then makeup and are fine. So I doubt the “drama” between them is really the “Cold War” as some claimed.

It's pedantic, but didn't the above just conclude clearing 500-550? Why is it better than Cinderella and Ariel?

If the audience falls in love with the lead actress, if they can connect with her performance and find her relatable, and if the film has memorable music and is just generally fun and compelling with a good story, then I see no reason why it can’t pull in $600 million. Agree if any of the key elements are lacking especially if the audience doesn’t connect with the lead actress the film could greatly underperform.

I’m not sure how much more people can expect from a 23-year-old actor.

I am noticing a trend… most of the projects Zegler is involved in includes music in some capacity…. Which is great cause she has a fantastic voice

Is it a normal strategy to hide your beloved star as much as possible before the movie release ?

The political comments were unnecessary but her comments on the original Snow White move were spot-on. Any backlash is coming from people who probably wouldn’t have seen the movie anyway.

And that’s without mentioning the number 1 reason given in almost every article as the reason people don’t like her for playing Snow White.

Despite the premiere issues, Disney seems to have some confidence in the film itself the way they are promoting it, merch, brand tie-ins, etc. Their ad campaign is not backing down.

I’ve now learned the new song just from arguing with FB trolls on a post where it plays in the background on repeat. Mission accomplished, Disney!

Not really going out on limb here but, looking at the abysmal weekend numbers, there are way too many tentpoles clustered up in May-July. Thunderbolts, Stitch, Elio, Fantastic Four, Mission Impossible, Jurassic World, Superman, F1, How to Train Your Dragon, etc.

How many casual moviegoers are going to shell out and go to see more than two of those? Could imagine a number of these doing ok numbers (e.g. $200M+ domestic) that still barely eke out a profit or fail to launch a franchise.

And if Superman doesn’t connect with casual movie watchers, WB is gonna look like it’s in total free fall.

Interesting how the reactions are fairly evenly split, every SW post has become half political battleground, half movie.

There are several pages of well-articulated posts discussing why Snow White is a spectacularly inappropriate subject for a live-action remake. Zegler's comments about the movie highlights some of them. I won't repeat all of that but the posts are there for you to read. The live-action remake is directed toward a different audience than the ones who are outraged by everything.

As an American, I hate that political views cause so much division; it doesn't have to be that way. So if that's what you're referring to as a reason to dislike the actor, it's sad but that's the way it is.

Maybe Disney should figure out that this “different audience” they are targeting with their films isn’t paying the bills.

If they want to continue with their “modern audience” nonsense maybe they should slash the budgets?

Hide her? What are you talking about? She is literally at every event as the face of the movie. She isn’t being hidden, she is out there for all to see.

I don't know why everything has to be a competition when it comes to old vs new, remake vs classic. Two of my nieces (ages 5 and 3), have seen the original on Disney+ and enjoy it, and will probably be seeing the new one real soon (though whether or not they are old enough to sit still that long in a movie theater is a question, so probably wait for streaming on that one as well). But for most kids and audiences, who cares? Each version has its own charm.

We have a display cabinet in our family dining room for the little ones to look at and enjoy. It is all Disney, and on the top right corner sits a display for the original Snow White from the old days.

My nieces love looking at and talking about the characters. They don't care if it's "dated" or whatnot. They're going to have a ball seeing the new one. Maybe we just need to enjoy this stuff as kids do.

She isn’t a prisoner, she isn’t locked up. She is out there in public talking to fans and non-fans alike. She still has all her social media profiles, and is promoting the film on it as well. So for someone who is supposedly being hidden she sure is out there a lot promoting the film.

You’re reading too much into them having a limited premiere.
