There’s that word again. Shill. It’s such an illogical response to someone liking something you don’t.
So what do you call the influencers and people on social media who received special access, swag, and comps for toeing the company line telling everyone how great this thing was going to be. What about the people that enriched their brand by hyping this thing up? What are they? Shills and Grifters seem like a good description.

I will gladly explain. 1. The queue. 2. The entire outside stretch. 3. The former laughing place. The new scene feels much more colorful and the water effect actually works! And 4. The finale. As for the lack of wait times. Ha ha I wish.
Oh yeah, this is soooooo much better than the Laughing Place....

So 1 & 2 are not part of the ride and anyone who uses LL miss it. I had VQ & the queue to me stunk granted we walked to the front…3 is based partly on the fact that Disney let the ride rot so you are comparing something new vs something purposely left to die. The finale was solid but to me the riverboat & music is tough to beat

I don’t know how many of them are actually “shills” I mean I’d be pretty happy with some of the stuff they get to see and do. But fine let’s say they are all shills. I wasn’t talking about them. I was talking about how anyone who says anything positive about this ride is quickly labeled a “shill” and written off as if there opinion doesn’t matter.

Can we just admit that the team which created this attraction failed? They’re clearly incompetent.
I don't think they were incompetent so much as they were not in the same league as the imagineers who brought Splash to life.

IF TBA were a completely new attraction not having to measure up to Splash, then I think most people would say it's pretty good. But it's wasn't, so it's not.

Now that certainly doesn't excuse all the technical failings, but I just think WDI held hostage by incompetent executives and management both at WDI and TWDC.

I argue this was more of a costly mistake than HarmoniUs.

HarmoniUs, in the short time it existed, ruined what came before it. Now that it’s gone and that mistake corrected, the views and sight lines of WS look as they did before.

They completely ruined both original attractions on both coasts for a tepid, uninspiring, useless attraction that already has an abysmal and inexcusable amount of huge problems with it.

Not following you on this. Unless I missed something, I'm pretty sure that most people here didn't enrich themselves or get free stuff from Disney by talking up TBA.

So remove my word of shill. Go ahead feel free. Everything else i say stands. You gave 2 things “better” that have zero to do with the ride itself that so many may never experience & then another all bc Disney let the ride rot…. That sounds like more than a stretch you must admit

Wait. I thought the great Tony Baxter had major input & say in this attraction? ;)

1. Alright fine we’ll stick to the ride proper. 2. The outside stretch is part of the ride. 3. Yes maintenance was poor and that is bad but even if everything worked on splash mountain I’d still say I prefer the new scene. 4. I will give you that. Which finale you prefer is mostly based on what type of music you like and what style of animatronics you prefer. You’re opinion is just as valid as mine here.

“Not as good as Tony Baxter” is an unreasonably high bar, but even when working this attraction’s narrative and stated story beats were real head scratchers.

If The Two Jakes was just a nice homage to film noir, people would say it was pretty good.

The sophisticated tech of the AAs was not only the selling point, it is what much of the ride was riding on. When you remove so many “simple” AAs with the promise that the one you’re inserting will blow people away, it better work reliably!

Okay you don’t like the ride. That’s your opinion and you are entitled to it. My problem was the shill comment anyway. It really annoys me because it makes no logical sense. Not because I’m trying to defend Disney.

It's clear this attraction's story couldn't get out of its own way, because it had to be as safe (and pointless) as possible. I think it's funny that Jim equates the failure of the animated series with ride because that would mean it was equally as pointless. So bad to the point they just wrote it off.

Everyone has their Godfather 3.

Spoiler Alert: No one cares about how many advanced AA you have if the experience is uninteresting and forgettable. To your point, the dozens of "simple" AAs coupled with fantastic music, sets, and artwork evoked interest and engagement (even in their broken-down state).

Now you have a broken-down advanced AA and dead space.

Im sorry the majority of people when judging attractions/rides etc strictly base their enjoyment on the ride itself & the queue is a distant second…the finale is solid as i said that i will admit. But if you are gonna make a strict comparison to the original this one couldnt shine Splash shoes
