My niece is 14 and she has watched the movie ever since she was a little girl, and it's one of her favorite movies. Bambi is another one that she loves.

That’s the great thing about Disney. It has something for everyone.

Snow has just gone through puberty, which is somewhat the conceit of the story. You could worry and say she’s even 12 or 13 with that information. She has no real discernible independence.

The Prince is presented as emancipated and older. 18 is generous as other sources place him 19-21.

Where have they been confirmed? If it's just supplement material made by people years after the movie was released then it doesn't count.

There’s a bit more debate that he’s 19-21. I think 18 is putting the genie back in the bottle. Because, yes, 19+ is becoming illegal.

Fourteen seems about right. Much older and the princes can start to look more like frogs

Unfortunately by many modern standards it is considered nefarious at this point with that large of an age gap. So it does give the ick if you think about it for even half a second.

Given that he is a Prince from a neighboring kingdom alone on lands not of his own indicates he is at least of adult age in the eyes of his kingdom, ie emancipated. Not to mention that most kingdoms of the time wouldn't have allowed the heir to a thrown to be alone without at least one guard, so there is that too.

The point was supposed to have been a softball question to @Vegas Disney Fan to establish that some things obviously should be updated when updating a film nearly a century old. This is routine in doing remakes. So why would you recreate a princess who is completely subservient to and at the whim of every man in the world - in 2025?

Exactly… I think some are missing the point…. It’s not about if it worked in the film back then…. It’s would it work for todays audience

There could always be references to things like school, peers, or many other things that would get the point across - for both characters.

We’re getting pretty deep into the weeds on how old Snow White is.

The box office Reddit sickos seem to think Capt. A4 will make less than The Eternals when it’s all said and done. If that happens I think the narrative may shift from “decent but unexceptional” to something like “the attached garage is on fire.”

By this weekend it should either match or surpass what Eternals did domestically during its entire run, ie its already ahead of where Eternals was at this point. So the only thing would be if international falls off the cliff, which I don't see happening. So while I won't say its impossible, I'll say its not likely for that to happen.

At the very least I see it making the same as Eternals, if not surpassing it, based on where things are at this point.
