DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I'm an advocate for capacity expansions, but MK is not lacking attraction capacity.

You could be entirely right, but there's no way you did the entire park in 4 hours. Carousel of Progress (~25 mins) + Tiki Room (~10 mins) + Hall of Presidents (~25 mins) + Philarmagic (~10 mins) + Country Bear (~10 mins) alone is roughly 90 minutes of experiences if you run across the park and get to the attraction at showtime.

If you've managed to do the entire park in 4-6 hours, sell your touring plan.

The longest we waited was 15 minutes for major attractions. We had a Fastpass (pre LL) for SDMT. We did skip TL Speedway, Buzz Lightyear, and the flat rides (Magic Carpets, Carousel, Dumbo, etc).

When I look at my most recent trip to Disneyland, in 10 hours I did the following:

Pinocchio's Daring Journey (not at MK)
Big Thunder Mountain
Tiana's Bayou Adventure
Haunted Mansion twice
Pirates
Alice in Wonderland (not at MK)
Star Tours (not at MK)
Space Mountain
Indiana Jones Adventure (not at MK)
Snow White's Enchanted Wish (not at MK)
Casey Jr Circus Train (not at MK)
Pooh 3 times
Matterhorn (not at MK)
Rise of the Resistance (not at MK)
Smuggler's Run (not at MK)
Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin (not at MK)
Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway (not at MK)
Buzz Lightyear
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (not at MK)

So, I had 23 riding experiences in 10 hours. 12 of these attractions are not present at MK. Over half. True, MK does have some attractions not present at DL like Carousel of Progress, which I do about 1 out of every 3 trips, SDMT which I do about 1 out of every 5 trips.

No chance of Disney getting the Marvel rights back this decade or the next.

Uni has no interest in removing their grip from Marvel at Florida. You can make a billion "rumor" news stories but the cold hard fact is that Universal has the upper hand for superheroes right now and it'd take Batman being available for licensing for them to release Marvel (and that's me guessing!).

I'm of the notion that EPCOT is the bigger target for Mahvel than DHS.


I don't expect Simps 100% either, but almost every IP under the sun I feel has been pitched for AC so who's counting?

I agree, they cant even properly maintain their existing parks -
Multiple sewer backups in MK
The sewer smell is still in EPCOT even after the "successful" (renovation?) of future world
They will never get the ground lighting to work reliably in the failed World Celebration area.
Tiana is still having issues
And who can forget the failed retile job at the Morocco.

Besides that, they will be busy destroying and replacing ROA, destroying and replacing Muppets, destroying and replacing DinoLand USA etc.

Why is this your response when you can just mention TRON, Cosmic Rewind, the France expansion, and the Starcruiser approach as clear examples of lack of care regarding sightlines? Weird to just go off on a tangent about unrelated issues when the supporting evidence is already there.

When I look at pound for pound with rides like Indiana Jones, Smuggler's Run, Star Tours, Rise of the Resistance, Finding Nemo Subs, Mickey and Minnie's RRR, Snow White, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Matterhorn, Car-Toon Spin....I don't find they are offset with attractions like Tron, SDMT, CoP, Hall of Presidents, and PhilharMagic.

Tron is the only must-hit for me at MK that I don't have at DLR. American Adventure is a far better show than Hall of Presidents, and I can watch Lincoln at Disneyland. I appreciate Country Bears, but Vacation Hoedown was the strongest show and the current new show is bland without any fun visual gags.

When I visit the Florida parks, I just find that they took the line-up of Disneyland's big hitters and spread them across MK and DHS. Its why Epcot and AK are the parks I visit the most, even if they too are lacking the number of attractions. MK has always felt like Diet Disneyland to me.

That's not to say that experiences like CoP and Country Bears are bad or without merit, but they are the charming attractions which help fill in between the big heavy hitters. But with fewer heavy hitters and fewer darkrides, the park feels like almost an entire park of B sides. I think MK might be tied with DCA as my least favourite US Disney Park.

Yeah, these are at least relevant. Though I still don't think they are as bad as people make them out to be. I don't notice them sticking out in the park at all.

I don't want to question your experience... but this is just so widely not what is experienced and reported by people I just find it hard to believe. And again, if this is your measure for what qualifies as a "full-day" park, then Disneyland is one of like 3 in the world that would qualify.

I'm not arguing MK vs. Disneyland; Disneyland obviously offers more -- just that if MK is a half-day park, every park in Orlando is one at best, and almost every park in the world is one. I personally prefer AK to MK, and definitely preferred golden age EPCOT (not sure about current EPCOT... still love the World Showcase, but former Future World is so poor compared to what used to be there), but MK has a lot.

It's just that a lot of people don't bother going to Storybook Circus and some don't care about the resort views for whatever reason. Six Flags Magic Mountain, Epcot, Alton Towers as far as I've experienced. I still want to visit Dollywood, Efteling, Tokyo Disney Seas, and Shangai Disney.

I never did starcuiser for obvious reasons what was the problem with the sight lines there?

Personally I think TRON fits in Tomorrow land, I never considered the sightlines from other lands. I need to look next time, also I happen to like TRON and it was an excellent actual ADDITION to Tomorrow land so I am biased.

Looking at the map, TRON is probably seen from parts of Fantasyland so you did show good proof Disney does not care about sightlines. Thanks for that.

I guess my analogy was not as clear as it should have been. My thinking was with all the mistakes I listed in other areas, how could it be they care about sightlines?

Maybe they will get the sightlines correct for Monsters land, Cars land, Villains land and Tropical Americas area.

It will be interesting to watch in the many, many years to come.

Fair. I don't personally mind the sightlines outside of the park. (for example, the back of EE is awful outside AK, but I excuse that). Never go to Storybook so that is why I missed that one. Just haven't noticed Cosmic Rewind, but I may just be oblivious lol.

The concern definitely isn't the way it was when they designed ToT to have the back side match Morocco. But I'm not sure they have been that way for a long time (see EE point above).

But the views of Pandora and Galaxies edge from public areas outside the park are extremely bad show.

Related specifically to this topic, you can see the existing muppets building from within galaxies edge - that could have been prevented in the design, but it wasn’t.

Cosmic is actually not that noticeable from within the park - in my opinion and to my surprise since when they were constructing it I thought it would stick out really bad. That go away blue must work haha.

I guess I've never counted outside the park as much. EE looks terrible from behind as well.

Never noticed Muppets. I feel like if you aren't looking for it you wouldn't notice.

But again, fair enough. I don't think they don't care at all about sightlines. But perhaps they don't care as much as they used to.

Tropical Americas re-uses pretty much all existing infrastructure, with the only added show building cloaked in tiered rockwork in the the model. Should be fine.

Cars is definitely considering it based on the artwork. The concerns are threefold in that:

1. You have two tall attractions next door (Tiana and Big Thunder) that may offer unfavorable views if they're not careful.
2. The actual content of the proposed attractions doesn't mesh well with the rest of the land and therefore will need to be fully obscured from the main Frontierland pathway to be thematically inoffensive.
3. What's being replaced is obviously thematically superior.

Monsters should be fine even if it's partially visible from Galaxy's Edge if they just face the whole thing with finished paneling instead of falling back on go-away blue with exposed gutters and a corrugated exterior.

We know nothing about Villains, so speculation is irrelevant.

Disagree. Magic Mountain is on par with MK in terms of attractions. Dollywood has more than MK.
