The article doesn’t link to the referenced permit, but I’m assuming it is the one linked below from the 27th.The announcement says the permit for work was filed earlier this week so they would have known the timeline for Muppets closing. Unless the work is just to remove the structure or it’s being reused somehow during construction.

If so, then there’s a very good chance the permit and work are not related to the Monstropolis project and is work that was just already scheduled to occur. Buena Vista Construction Company is Disney’s in-house construction company and it has been a long time since they have been tasked with a project on the scale of a new land. New attractions and lands are generally contracted to large general contractors. It’s possible they’ve decide to make a big change regarding Buena Vista Construction Company but I think we’d need more evidence to come to that conclusion.
