DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Are they though? Do we know that for sure other than some people on the boards saying they would like that?

It's just people accepting guesses/speculation as rumor and other taking that rumor as insider rumor and then it becomes "apparently".

When you have an absence of information the internet fills in the gaps.

My speculation is that there is a second round of attraction/lands going in after Monsters. We've got a 10 year (now 9?) window of investment. Monsters is just one ride, so there is room for more. That second land is going to probably be either 1) Zootopia 2) Incredibles or 3) Frozen and how each sequel movie does will probably tilt the investment in one way or another.

This is why Monsters going to Muppets makes sense. Animation Courtyard is a lot of space and I'm willing to bet they want a large new land back there. Unless they decide to put everything back there.

They seem to be very against tearing down any of the offices and old infrastructure behind the AC... So while the property is there, getting to it and demolishing all those buildings seems to be a problem...I would almost expect them to build on the other side into the parking lot for a newer big land type addition... there is level space to start with

I'm pretty sure they eventually want to take away all the dead ends in this park.

@Moth is considered a trusty insider, aren't they?
(But there were some other people saying to pay attention to Simpsons in WDW rumors from earlier this year so I'll try and dig that up)

In the latest Disney Dish episode, Len Telsa mentioned that fans of The Boneyard should be excited about something yet to be announced. Any chance we could still be getting a play area for this land?
I think it'd be daft not to just repurpose the boneyard site as more of an archaeologist's dig site instead.

No disrespect to archaeologists or palaeontologists but it's kind of the same thing... ish... general "digging up stuff" 😅

I think moth wasn’t really saying it for sure WAS happening, just a possibility. Even then it was before we knew about monsters. The last few pages were just hypotheticals about “what if”. If anyone would have any updated information about that “zootopia or simpsons at DHS” talk I’d love to hear it though.

Digging up human remains and artifacts would go against the central core theme of Disney *Animal* Kingdom, no?

Unless, perhaps, they were digging up remains of prehistoric zookeepers.

Animals factor heavily into mythology and folklore. If it's right by the temple, such a digsite could involve digging up artifacts depicting animals important to Mesoamerican cultures. Jaguars, quetzals, snakes, bats, etc. depicted as sculptures, on vases, and so on. Could even throw in a dinosaur fossil as an Easter egg; while they don't often work together, paleontologists and archaeologists will notify those in the other field if they find something relevant while excavating. But even without that, there's plenty to dig up in terms of animal art.
