Very frustrating. I really am championing it going over in AC just because I hate SW Launch Bay so so much.

They certainly are a huge part of pop culture and as an attraction roster, an asset to DHS. Not in their prime by any means.

However, Disney's California Adventure has been a money pit and needed any quick-change low cost for ROI it could get.

At the end of the day, They are far more popular than not making Walt Disney animation in a nothing happening building.

Yeah, that's why the latest show on Disney+ folded after one season. Which is just another addition to the litany of failures.

Yes, they're part of pop culture. But they're not DISNEY culture. That's why they need to go, especially since they're a money-loser. Good grief, Howdy Doody and Kukla, Fran and Ollie are a part of pop culture. But they're still dead. Remembered with fondness, but DEAD. Trying to keep the puppets going is like reviving a dead body. Zombies. Again, look at Looney Tunes. None of the attempted revivals have worked out, because they suck. And that's because the original Looney Tunes was created by a special group of people at a certain time in history. That's very hard to duplicate. As the failures of Looney Tunes: Back In Action (I saw that at the theater, and there were virtually NO laughs. The animation was great, the but the script was awful) and Space Jam 2. The current generation is not going to go for the puppets. There's too much better stuff out there. That's just the way it is.

This desire to keep the puppets going somehow is like the desire that spawned more Star Wars movies. And look what happened to that. Although, at least those made money, at first. Can't say that about the puppets...

But really, only the Muppets have successfully pulled off a film adaptation of The Haunted Mansion. Was it a massive blockbuster? No, but amongst parks fans that means a LOT.

They need to find a way to reboot the muppets ip. I feel like ever since Jim Henson passed away muppets have never been the same and nothing has really lived up to the past quality of the muppets.

Splash Mountain got several petitions denouncing its removal. Did that move the needle? No. We still got a piece-of-crap replacement.

If Disney folds because of a minority of people screaming about the loss of a very old and little-liked attraction (as far as Gen Z is concerned), how does it justify removing the Liberty Belle and Rivers of America?

On a different note, leaving aside if Monsters is bigger or worthier than Muppets, do you think Muppets needs to be replaced before Launch Bay (since those are the only options), and if so, why?

Maybe Henson's kids - who have gotta be rolling in dough since they sold their dad's characters twice - can buy the theater and put it someplace. Maybe build their own theme park or something. Or maybe Sesame Place would want it. Or maybe some other theme park. Or whatever.

I've got an idea for a new museum, and this would be perfect for it! It's gonna be called A Salute to All Intellectual Property but Mostly the Muppets. I just need to find the right location.

For those of use who are 16 hours behind, what did the tweet on pg 108 or so say? I just tried to look at it, and it had been deleted.

A guy who works in the animation building said his office is moving to another location on property.

Backlot Tour quickly faded out but it was a great time and certainly had a stronger identity than whatever is there now.

It faded because it was completely neglected. That tour was an easy way to advertise Disney IP that could quickly and easily be swapped out - so much wasted potential.

Again, it was removed from Disneyland and nobody shed a tear. (Where were you THEN, Josh Gad?)

It closed for a temporary summer show and then never came back - it didn’t really close.

Brian Henson and Frank Oz did an excellent job with Christmas Carol and a good job with Treasure Island. I thought muppets most wanted was hilarious as well.

Something new will go in both locations at DHS eventually regardless, and there is no deeply planned phase 2 dependent on one location over the other. Cars is going where it is in large part to give them the access they want to Villains and to finally resolve the BTMRR dead end.

This is absolutely disgusting and it shows you, not only have no respect for the art, but also have no respect for human decency.

It’s one thing to simply not care if an attraction stays, but to say “it should’ve died with him” is abhorrent and is not the type of thing that should be tolerated. I’m not going to sit around on a DISNEY forum and watch someone say that something should’ve died with its creator while the many people who were moved, touched, and impacted by the creation are voicing concern.

I hope a moderator or someone comes on here and sees this disgusting comment and decides to rightfully boot you from the forum.

And for those who are inevitably gonna start with me, this ISN’T Splash Mountain because Muppets isn’t based on a movie so problematic that it was racist for 1940’s standards!

Yes, but the area was always going to change in some capacity as a dependency of northwestern expansion. The Monsters coaster is not a dependency of any future work regardless of where it goes.
