Or maybe some of us actually like what was showed to us...You can tell the defenders know they don’t have a lot to work with by the scent of desperation wafting off posts like this.

They did. Thankfully. That's like...the one thing I'm happy about. And the coloured lights they added in the water within that section. So at least we have that. I guess.Okay here’s a question for those who watched: I know they were planning to keep those fountains that jump over you in Splash. Did they at least fix those? I’m digging a little deeper for some positivity…
Everyone said the same thing about FEAfor awhile because its new, but if the word spreads negatively....lines may not be as bad at some point. but with genie and all how that mess works, it probably will always be long.
I'd say that MMRR is cute as a big D-Ticket. Mission BO is a disappointment and is a 5/10 for me. Rise is a fun experience, but the ride itself is an 7-8/10, depending on how much isn't working. Splash was a 9/10 for me when it was working. Tiana's is about a 6 from what I see.MMRR and Mission:Breakout are very good, Mystic Manor is a masterpiece, and RotR is pretty good. But most of the rides Imagineering has produced for over a decade are not good. Much more tellingly, they’re not good IN SIMILAR WAYS. We can identify the awful habits and trends and ways of thinking. It’s much easier and more enjoyable to blame management, and they bare a lot of blame. But there is more then enough evidence at this point to demonstrate that there is something fundamentally broken about the way Imagineering thinks about its job.
I agree with you normally, but honestly at this point this is a huge release of frustration.I don’t think it’s fair or helpful to dismiss all criticism in this way, just as I feel it’s wrong to call those who like what they’ve seen Disney shills. People are allowed to have different responses and inevitably will.
I agree that most guests will probably enjoy the ride a lot. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it too. I just don’t think it lives up to what it’s replaced.
FEA has the "Frozen tax". Also, I don't think Maelstrom was anywhere near as beloved as Splash. I don't think any ride they've replaced thus far has been. We are in uncharted territory here.Everyone said the same thing about FEA
What about bookings? Is that a fair metric? By many accounts this is was pushed to open in summer so they had something to entice bookings this summer and fall. Not sure this is a fair metric when we all know this would be the same even if they showed us the single greatest ride history had ever seen because swaths of people who would be watching this decided that they were going to attack this no matter what before Splash was even mercifully put to rest.
Kim Irvine has been mocked for awhile in California for her attachment to less-than-stellar rethemes and changes.I really hate the way these two women have been vilified by those critical of the retheme. And it’s very telling that they have been. I don’t see scapegoats being singled out for other unpopular projects.
I’m afraid I disagree a bit. Yes, they’ve produced a few gems, but generally they’ve been VERY consistent. FEA, LM, RotR, Zootopia, GotG, even the new Fantasy Springs rides have VERY similar sensibilities. If, when it was first announced, this board had drawn up a plan for what the completed TBA would look like based on past experience, I think we would have gotten VERY close. What I’ve noticed is a curious and sometimes baffling inconsistency in the quality of the Imagineers’ output. It seems to me what’s missing is strong creative oversight and guidance.
No, not really, it isn't. Every ride is built with some degree of wanting to bring people en masse into parks, but not every one will not even the really good ones. What about bookings? Is that a fair metric? By many accounts this is was pushed to open in summer so they had something to entice bookings this summer and fall.
Has the website crashed today?
The metric is gonna be are people getting on it and are they enjoying it.
It really doesn’t show that. I’m glad you think so positively of the online community and haven’t gotten into the weeds of hate brigading on sites like YouTube, Rotten Tomatoes, etc. But the likes and dislikes on videos like this, movie trailers, music videos, etc are not and never will be an accurate reflection of how people feel positive or negative. They visit these sites with an agenda be it a good or bad one.
I'm obviously only one person, but I wasn't planning on going this year. Between wanting to see this and moana I decided to book an August trip. That is absolutely not how Disney is going to measure the success of this. New attractions are gauged on how many new bookings they drive to the park, and merchandise sales.
If this ride doesn't increase attendance this year and next relative to how many bookings Splash drove, and if it's merchandise doesn't take off Disney won't consider it a success.
Why at the very least they couldn't figure out there should be no less than a 1 for 1 replacement of AAs is beyond me. Instead, AAs are replaced with ... nothing. There’s just clearly way more fauna and flora than animals/animatronics. Definitely less exciting… also I personally don’t like how spotlighted Tiana/others gets versus softer lighting to blend into the scene.
