It's not whether or not one agrees or doesn't disagree.

At the very beginning the laws that were put in place for this have been SO VAGUELY WRITTEN as to allow for abuse and silencing of speech that is critical.

Should a young child be allowed that book? No.

Should the law be amended to have be more SPECIFIC as to what defines an prohibited book?

It’s not about that one book, it’s the whole principle of the organization. They don’t want anyone reading anything that doesn’t fit their view of the world. I don’t agree with a bigoted women dictating what children are reading.

But this specific book, All Boys Aren't Blue; is it appropriate for school children? That's a yes or no question.

I will say this: it's OK to be aligned from time to time with people you would otherwise vehemently disagree with. A broken clock is right twice a day. If your position is that Ziegler is on a crusade as a member of the CFTOD board to somehow reform Disney much in the same way that she is trying to reform school libraries, I'd posit that knowing the specifics of what she is doing in school libraries is important.

I'm not advocating for Ziegler to reform/censor Disney. Not only that, but as I've discussed recently, there is virtually no means of her accomplishing that by way of her position on the CFTOD board. She would need to get on the Board of Directors of TWDC to have the kind of influence she is allegedly seeking.

FWIW, according to the Associated Press, the police have recommended dropping the most serious charge since the video he made of the encounter supports his contention that the activity was consensual.

I think the "one bad book" example is somewhere between a straw man and a red herring. It doesn't really speak to a systematic issue with books children are reading.

It doesn’t really tell us anything. I could quote grim passages about war crimes from a history textbook and they too wouldn’t be allowed to stand here.

In case you’re not aware, the author himself has made clear that the book isn’t appropriate for those under 14 years of age.

The encompassing issue is that a VERY partisan governor should not be instituting this policy, it should be up to local schools & their educators.

I'd post a video of one of her fellow Moms for Liberty leader Tiffany Justice on MSNBC's The Reid Out the other night, in which she discusses one of the "banned books," but the content of the book she quotes is so profane that it would break site rules.

Is it a Disney publication?

Surely telling us if said example is a Disney publication wouldn't break any site rules.

Perhaps an example title of a Disney publication (book, movie, whatever) that would meet the standard of so profane it should be removed from schools?

Otherwise, it's hard to fathom how it would be related to using control of RCID to impact Disney content......

I also think we live in an age where children can find whatever they want on the internet on the iPad's they're practically handed at birth. People are not nearly as sheltered as Bridget and her "Mothers on a Crusade".

That’s not an excuse for keeping this kind of stuff in schools. It’s just not. For some of these books, the decision should be easy. It’s low hanging fruit that all should be able to agree.
