The reason this thread is “still raging” is because there are many people on here rooting for the movie to fail. That’s all.I can’t figure out why this thread is still raging?
It’s over. We can reopen debate if it somehow pops back up over the next few weeks…against the odds.
More than one movie is allowed to open in the summer.Spiderman is drowning the Little Mermaid. I will be even worst when Transformers opens.
Okay yes I admit I forgot about Gru and the minions. But are the other ones at Universal?Don't forget Minions and the Illuminations cinematic universe.
I’m not rooting for it to fail, I’m a shareholder. I’m concerned about Disney’s creative direction. The New Coke vs. Classic Coke didn’t work in the 80s and apparently didn’t work overseas with new Mermaid vs old Mermaid. Overseas looks like they didn’t want change from a classic character, just like people didn’t want new Coke in the 80s and demanded Classic return. One of the all-time corporate blunders. The reason this thread is “still raging” is because there are many people on here rooting for the movie to fail. That’s all.
Yes, I was just adding to the list. I agree, there are plenty of current IP at Universal.Okay yes I admit I forgot about Gru and the minions. But are the other ones at Universal?
Btw, with all the "TLM has already failed-it's not an opinion but fact" posts that go on and on, I'd say that they all count at massive concern trolling. Is there a rule against concern trolling?

Good news is we can start discussing then next flop Elemental next week.
What’s the excuse for that one gonna be ?
There you are!!!!!!!!!!If anyone dares mention the practically perfect and too-good-for-this-world Ms. Catherine O'Hara as a reason why Elemental flops, it's going to get ugly in that thread. Trust me.![]()

They wanted Classic Coke and it cost Disney. As of today's reporting from this weekend's box office overseas, The Little Mermaid is tracking right about where Aladdin was domestically. But unlike Aladdin and The Lion King, Mermaid is tracking way below those two overseas.
It really does look like the mediocre (Europe, Mexico) to poor (China) overseas box office results for Mermaid are what's going to prevent it from breaking even at its reported $560 Million figure.

People find joy in different ways. Some are happy when Disney fails because they don’t like much about current-day Disney. It’s only a handful who get a kick out of posting non-stop about it, which can be interpreted as gloating. Best to just ignore it.The reason this thread is “still raging” is because there are many people on here rooting for the movie to fail. That’s all.
At this point…I’m more interested to see how it fares domestically over the next week?As of today's reporting from this weekend's box office overseas, The Little Mermaid is tracking right about where Aladdin was domestically. But this thread isn't supposed to be solely, or even mainly, about the film's box-office performance. It's supposed to be a place for general discussion of the film, though you'd hardly know it.There is no “rooting”
The game is over. Reality is reality…nothing said here affects Disneys decisions, successes…or failures
