How is this even a surprise? This has been the opening timeframe that they have been on track for for at least a year. They weren’t going to open the ride right after Covid. The work wasn’t far enough along with the shutdown of construction, and there was no need to rush once the parks re-opened, as you were going to get a major spike just from pent up travel demand. How is this even possible? And he announces it with a straight face!
Nah. At this point they’ll save it for the 100th celebration because they have nothing else but Tron in the hopper. You can see it now ….”just as Walt’s beloved railroad made its debut on Disneyland opening day, we celebrate the 100th anniversary with a grand reopening of the WDW Railroad….”I'm willing to bet that the railroad opens pretty soon. All they have to do is get finished laying the track. Everything else they need to do with Tron can be done while the railroad is in operation.
I’m more optimistic on that front. Was hoping for an announcement today regarding the reopening of the WDWRR, but that’s if they’re even planning to reopen it before Tron.
I also think Splash is now likely safe through the end of the year.Delaying this long is a marketing decision. There could be a lengthy period of previews.
In my opinion I think splash will close during its annual refurb and not reopen till late 2024 (summer 2025)I also think Splash is now likely safe through the end of the year.
Agreed. We should get one more Christmas season. In my opinion I think splash will close during its annual refurb and not reopen till late 2024 (summer 2025)
More like Summer 2027 if they keep their current pace of construction. In my opinion I think splash will close during its annual refurb and not reopen till late 2024 (summer 2025)
I do not believe WDW’s 50th anniversary factored into many guests’ vacation plans. I don’t think there will be any post-50th slump in attendance. This is a marketing ploy to hype up the parks after the 50th. There is no other reason I can think of.
This also seems to jeopardize when Splash will close. I can't imagine them closing it before tron, that's a lot of people that will be out and about otherwise.
How is this even possible? And he announces it with a straight face!
One More Time! Not just a straight face but with a big smile on his face after bragging about how he got to ride it! .... But us peasants can wait another 6 months
My friends are there right now. They scheduled to be there during the 50th.I do not believe WDW’s 50th anniversary factored into many guests’ vacation plans. I don’t think there will be any post-50th slump in attendance.
Since it is not set to open until Spring 2023 I would not hold my breath. They'll likely still be doing piddly things to the attraction all the away to opening. Oh, and they do not allow guests to do test runs.Admittingly, I'm a bit sad they decided to hold Tron until next year. While I have zero expectations, is there a sliver of chance that they allow MVMCP guests to do test runs?
