If they really wanted they could have Play done by the end of 2022....
Well it would have been done in 2021…if they hadn’t thrown the brakes on it and now are “pacing”

That is the most inexcusable new trend of the Bobs era…slow rolling construction for “strategic purposes”

It’s part of the history of Disney parks: announce ride, build ride, finish ride, open ride. The people that are in the parks on the first day you can get them on it deserve to be on it. Period.

Now I’m gonna go outside and do some Tai Chi to calm myself down…

Something about PLAY reminds me of test track 2.0 now I think of it. They both have the same tron-esque, cyber aesthetic, but hit all the wrong notes with it.

Only difference is at least Test Track 2.0 has a decent ride underneath it's current mediocre theming that could easily be salvaged in the future with a new retheme. Play I'm not sure if it has the same luck.

5th gate? Just build a new resort Bob.
I don’t praise everything but I do remember when my kids liked meeting characters. This will be a helluva lot cooler than waiting to meet Buzz in the sun (and in more than one way). It serves a purpose. My only real complaint is that they should build a new simulator ride in the back.
Is that back building just going to continue to sit?

The biggest issue is that it would have made a lot more sense to leave the other half of Communicore standing and repurpose it into this kind of space. Then they could have used the former Wonders of Life location as some kind of new pavilion with actual attractions instead of leaving those attraction spaces shuttered.

That's a relatively simple change that would improve the spine and allow for more attractions; I don't really understand why they didn't do that.

So Jim thinks it will be open before they finish playing in the Moana dirt pile..
Moana's Journey of Construction will be open in 2023, too. Everything EPCOT that wasn't officially delayed (or quietly stopped being mentioned) is supposed to be 2023 -- unless they want to move the timetable up.

So, predicting it will open in 2023 requires no insider knowledge. Give us a specific month, then I'll pay attention... Jim.
