Unless Tony Baxter comes back to oversee the project and WDI has a big budget for it, I can't say that I trust the replacement would be great. It's good to know that D'Amaro at least sounds like he wants to fix it.

A large portion of WDI is also being replaced due to the big move. Will some of these new Imagineers, or ones that get promoted, appreciate the history of this pavilion? I have to hope so if we're going to see more East Coast talent.

I still can't understand why GotG's budget is so high (unless huge amounts of that budget are specifically to pay the film talent.) Really curious what those percentages are...

Except the potential of a worthwhile redo. Which is really all any of us cling to, at this point.

Whenever they finally get around to redoing Imagination, however it turns out they won't be redoing it again. Not in any of our lifetimes, anyway.

Figment lovers better hope they swing for the fences and hit a grand slam. It should be clear to Disney by now that they're sitting on a ton of untapped potential . . .

My main concern is that the Figment audience doesn't mesh with the more narrow focus audience of current Disney. So, that untapped market may not be one they care about - or are even trying to subtly dissuade from attending.

That's why I think when they had done Mystic Manor it shows that potential is not lost and they have ability and know how to make Imagination a Flagship attraction...

I'm not sure that the number of people who really care about Imagination is enough to make a big dent by itself, but that doesn't even really matter. As long as the attraction is good it will attract guests, and EPCOT needs that.

If that line showed us anything.. I think it showed, despite a number of them being eBay scalpers. That Figment is still beloved & in huge demand, and I ‘know’ it’s because of the memory & legacy of the original attraction and what little is left of that in the current iteration (mainly the song and the character himself). The original returning with modern tech & spfx enhancements will only cement and keep that legacy going. More than that, but the genuine creative spirit of both the company & people everywhere.

Disney has been very reactionary with anything other theme parks (mostly Universal) do - they wait to see how the new offerings do before they commit to building anything. Which, honestly, is a bad pattern considering how long it takes Disney to build anything. When Epic Universe becomes a hit (because it will, just based on the Nintendo offerings alone), Disney won't have any major expansions to compete built until 6-8 years later.

If they re-do Imagination and refresh SSE, they may try to pass off EPCOT as a "whole new park."

The ride itself currently isn't doing too well.
On nearly half of the videos after the start of Festival of the Arts, the sound lab scene isn't synchronized with the ride vehicle anymore, some of the times it doesn't start until the ride vehicles moved in completely, and some of the times it is already started before the ride vehicles start to enter the room.

Despite my intense hesitance to have Chapek's influence come within any distance of this eventual overhaul.....this upcoming D23 is the one that has the highest chance of an announcement than any in recent memory. Even before Covid, this one was the projected event for Imagination's reveal. I'm weary.

I mean, it's coated in a disgusting layer of fondant, and the head is probably a dry rice cereal treat that no one would really want to eat. Actually (very slightly) impressed that there's any cake in there at all given current cake decorating trends.

The head was solid foam so they couldn't eat if they wanted to. Well, you could...but...just don't.

That's a real shame. I guess they can't really advertise their business on Disney property, but I still would have brought some disposable plates and forks for others to enjoy...

Here's the thing, typically the nicer a cake looks, the worse it typically tastes. I don't think I would want a bite of that cake and I certainly wouldn't bite into a cake from a random stranger in the parks that other people have eaten from as well. I'm not a germaphobe and I'm still disgusted by the idea! 😂
