Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

I wouldn't -- I'd rather have a great attraction even if it didn't involve Figment.

Of course, I've always felt that Dreamfinder was what really made the original ride work. I like Figment and he was an important part as well, but through the Dreamfinder framing. I don't think Figment really works without Dreamfinder (or some similar character with a similar place in the story; it doesn't have to be Dreamfinder specifically).
This is absolutely correct. What is Figment now? A purple ball of annoying sound and fury, signifying nothing. He had meaning because of his involvement with the ride, which itself had meaning because it tied into the broader concepts that animated original EPCOT. Modern Figment is a lump of kitsch designed to move merchandise to people hungry for something Disney demolished. In fact, the antagonistic twerp in the current ride bears only a physical resemblance to the creature of child-like wonder in the original.

Narratively, as UNC says, Figment doesn’t really work without a mentor- figure - a Dreamfinder. I’d LOVE a huge, beautiful Figment and Dreamfinder dark ride that captures the spirit, scope and… imagination of the original. That’s the only way Figment can become Figment again.

This is why it always bugged me that Figment is just one of the "Latest Discoveries." Like how was he found to become that? Was he locked in a storage locker? And if Dean Finder coexists in this attraction (albeit being a door) wouldn't the Institute realize that it was one of Dreamfinder’s sparks of imagination considering he's the Dean of the Institute?

You have just given this much, much more thought then anyone employed by Disney ever has.

If there is one thing I like with the current ride, it is the music loops of some of the scenes. My favorite is the loop during the scene at the dock outside the Touch & Taste labs when transitioning to the upside down room. When a new ride comes, I hope they bring back the music composer who made these, because in my opinion they seem more energetic and joyful compared to the original ride's music. Thanks to a video during a hold up of the scene, I was able to create a nearly clean loop of it:

Just got off the ride, absolutely the worst I’ve ever seen it. The cars were completely off sync in Sound and Sight labs and stopped in the wrong positions. Figment just kept popping up and down in the Sound lab with no audio. Sight lab screen wasn’t working correctly. It synced back up correctly at Smell lab, but stopped past the reveal wall at the end so you were looking directly at the final scene.

I can’t believe they were loading guests with it like this.

The current incarnation of JII has so little in it's show scenes as it is that even the slightest thing not working just becomes tremendously apparent. And since Disney won't spend the money to give it a real refurbishment, it just keeps struggling.

The audio syncing has been problematic for the past few years. It gets fixed, then messes up again soon after. I wonder what the trouble is...

Age. 20 years of it.

I doubt anything has been upgraded in that timeframe.

Respectfully disagree with you about the current music. The original was much better IMO with the full, grand orchestrations and that. Though for what it is.. the current music is fine/okay. I’ll say something though.. the music composer is none other than George Wilkins.. ironically, the very same guy that composed the original ride’s score.

Please when you see this take the time to go to Guest Services and file a complaint. No action will be taken if people keep riding the rides without saying anything. Mentioning it to the CM on the ride really isn't going to do too much. Filing an official complaint with Guest Services is more important (but admittedly takes more effort, I agree).

IMO, it’s best to report it to the coordinator for the ride(white shirt), I told one of them about Figment’s arm issue and just a short bit later in the month, that issue got fixed. I should of told them more than that. In fact, I told multiple CMs and coordinators about the issues with ToT that they had an ambassador waiting for me at unload to tell me that they regularly take note of what isn’t working properly and that I didn’t need to tell multiple people about it.

I 98% agree with this statement.

The 2% disagreement is the interpretation of said guest complaint. We don't want the company to even remotely think figment isn't popular. Too many guest complaints might send the wrong message and get figment replaced entirely. BUT, if you don't send any complaints at all, the ride will continue it's deteriorated state and might get worse.

I guess it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. 🙁

Yep. It's been 11 years since I angrily wrote Disney about ruining my favorite Epcot ride. Now I just hope they keep it functioning at all until such time as it gets a proper budget.

However, at some point the did fix the upside down TV. I think that's the extent of the repairs.

Not necessarily.

It should be easy enough to complain that the ride wasn't in good condition... which is such a shame, given how much you love Figment and miss Dreamfinder too ;)

(False claims, read my later response on the 17th)
Original:
I honestly can't believe it. A live stream today on Imagination shown BOTH animatronics nearly fully fixed in motion and the show issues solved. I never expected maintenance to actually fix it this much. The motion of it kind of seems exactly like how it was in 2018, which makes me think they might of overwrote the programming with what it was in 2018. Ill take it though over what it was last week. Hopefully this is a turning point of the maintenance crews at Disney.
