That's my issue. Defending people not wanting to vaccinate for no good reason (other than to tell the govt to stuff it) doesn't sit well with me. They are the reason why this keeps going. I have zero desire to see it burn through the country killing more. I respect people making choices but in a time like this I definitely am not against mandates. I'm just not sure I am for them. What gets me is seeing how many are vaccinating when their bluff was called. It was all about a power trip it feels like. My desire has always been to protect people and some excuses really irk me.

I do acknowledge that people feel the right to be treated by vaccinated people only when dealing with police, medical, fire etc.

All interactions where someone doesn't have a choice in the matter.

Someone needing emergency healthcare doesn't get to pick which staff they'll interact with.
Someone having a fire emergency doesn't get to pick who will respond.
Someone needing the police, or more importantly someone having the force of law imposed on them doesn't get to pick which officer does it.

It would be nice if public heath guidelines changed to require businesses to post if they require testing/vaccination or not. Just like health code and occupancy notices. Then, customers who have a choice about what businesses to interact with could use that information in the same way. "This business cleans correctly to deter rats and prevent food poison, requires hand washing, AND it's employees are tested regularly or vaccinated. Also, the dining room holds 200 people or it's fire hazard if there are more".

Doesn't change interactions with government services. The federal employee mandate deals with stuff like someone doesn't need to worry about exposure to COVID if they need to deal with the Social Security Administration or the IRS. Healthcare, fire, police, court systems, all fall into categories where people aren't given an option to pick a different business.

Said from the beginning that I really dislike that this is coming from the feds. These things usually sit better with people, for the most part (not in all cases of course), when they are state driven...it is one of the reasons why I have been saying that I wanted to see mandates from the states.

That was my point for being not against mandates. I absolutely understand why someone wants them simply as a right to make sure any services they get are from vaccinated people. Sorry I didn't spell it out but it's why I understand why some even push for them.

It would be nice if people, had choices for those who do care.

They did all that for ONE positive case. Park will also close November 1 and 2. They are really taking "zero tolerance" seriously.

This is absolute lunacy. “Zero COVID” is impossible to attain and is a fools mission. Thank our lucky stars that we don’t have to deal with this nonsense in China.

I support the NYC Police, Fire and Sanitation employees. They provided us with exceptional service for the first year of Covid and did so with no vaccine. If they want to risk their lives that should be their right. I am vaccinated, my wife is vaccinated and we are not at risk from any of those wonderful, hard working employees. It is the mayor who is to blame for the garbage in the streets and delays of emergecy seevices.

Try living in NYC . if all these anti vax refuse to get roll up their sleeves , there will be delay in emergency services and the anti vax ones who stay at home will be on unpaid leave. Good luck in paying your bills in the Big Apple. If you support them perhaps give them a monetary donation ?

Anyone that walks the street of NYC may see businesses put out their overflowing garbage on the sidewalk for the garbage trucks to pick up. If there is an delay due to lack of employees, those rats will come out in full force. These rats are well fed and very big in size, that's no joke.

Are you looking for months, years, or decades?

One would presume that once the vaccine has full approval beyond EUA, it's likely to be required for school. Maybe just high school or middle school and not kindergarten. Given enough time, everyone (or practically everyone) working everywhere will have gone through a school that required it.

Which ends in one of two places:
1 - It's still required, but it's not an issue since everyone applying for the job will already have had it years before in school.
2 - It's not called out as required, because almost everyone applying for the job will already have had it years before in school.

Given enough time, we'll likely get to the same vaccinated percentage as we are for polio and measles. For some measure of "enough".

I am looking for how the specific orders are written; the NYC one and the OSHA one (for OSHA, I think that is still being finalized??). One would assume than mandates done under emergency powers would have some sort of time limit/expiration date implemented? Maybe not? I just wanted to see if anyone was familiar with this for either case.
