This means war....😈😈😈
I haven't ride NJ Transit train since February 2020 before the pandemic started it. I'm waiting NJ Transit to losing masks for good for trains and buses next year.
Looks like the with the anti vax still refusing to get vaccinated your wish of being mask free is in question but NYC is making progress in getting some to wake up and roll up their sleeves.

I support the NYC Police, Fire and Sanitation employees. They provided us with exceptional service for the first year of Covid and did so with no vaccine. If they want to risk their lives that should be their right. I am vaccinated, my wife is vaccinated and we are not at risk from any of those wonderful, hard working employees. It is the mayor who is to blame for the garbage in the streets and delays of emergecy seevices.

You know what's funny?
Good. I wish they would have called it a testing mandate, with a vaccine option for getting out of testing.
I also hope this allows employers to pass the cost of testing on to unvaccinated employees - that plus the inconvenience of testing will push plenty of people into vaccinated status after a few weeks.
Said from the beginning that I really dislike that this is coming from the feds. These things usually sit better with people, for the most part (not in all cases of course), when they are state driven...it is one of the reasons why I have been saying that I wanted to see mandates from the states.

Not so sure it would matter. The government on any level causes distrust. I've seen it in my own state. I'm not sure mandates are the right thing. I do acknowledge that people feel the right to be treated by vaccinated people only when dealing with police, medical, fire etc. It bothers me that we've become so divided through on this. Not sure how to fix it though.

I’ll leave out the outgoing Mayor but outbreaks in these groups produced enormous problems last year.

Agreed. If they get rid of the vaccine mandate for NYC Police, Fire and Sanitation, folks could possibly get COVID and die.

If they keep the mandate and lose all these valued people, people will die due the lack of services, AND, these folks who lost their jobs could STILL spread COVID and possibly die of COVID in any event.

I argue, on the job, with the existing protocols, these folks are safer to themselves and others, than they are when jobless at home.

During the height of COVID these folks were essential workers. Now they aren’t? Sure sounds like a double standard to me.

I don’t love mandates either but if they finally get enough people vaccinated to end this, so be it. This can’t needlessly continue.

On the contrary, they are essential and we need people in these roles who won’t get sick, spread disease, and knock out entire facilities for 2 weeks.

I don’t disagree, but with half the states (mine included) likely never to do anything, and too many companies not reacting on their own, I don’t mind federal action.

Again, marketing matters, and I wish they’d have billed this for what it really is: a testing requirement during a pandemic to provide worker safety. To get out of testing during the pandemic phase, a worker can choose to be vaccinated. I still wonder if OSHA emergency powers will hold up in court in this instance, but I applaud them for at least trying.

That's my issue. Defending people not wanting to vaccinate for no good reason (other than to tell the govt to stuff it) doesn't sit well with me. They are the reason why this keeps going. I have zero desire to see it burn through the country killing more. I respect people making choices but in a time like this I definitely am not against mandates. I'm just not sure I am for them. What gets me is seeing how many are vaccinating when their bluff was called. It was all about a power trip it feels like. My desire has always been to protect people and some excuses really irk me.
