News Zootopia and Moana Blue Sky concepts for Disney's Animal Kingdom

I'm honestly hoping that if the villain area happens, the proposed thorn-portal actually takes you to a fully indoor courtyard where it's eternally night. Wouldn't be conducive to firework viewing as proposed above, but it would be a kind of awesome change of pace and a potentially more climate-controlled zone of respite in the summer.

If anything, they should be putting Moana into Adventureland.

And since 90% of Adventureland is based on tropical environments....

Bye bye.

And maybe get rid of the Swiss Family Treehouse for a Moana boat ride.
I thought thats where Tiana should have been.

I think it would be interesting if in the Villains area they build like an evil Castle (like Malificent's castle or something) and then project it in that castle as well (angle the castle so fireworks look appropriate) .... mayb add some extra audio like the villains booing when the heros win, etc

Have a cut of Happily Ever After where all the song are played in a minor key? Expanding the idea further having two similar but different show (a "hero" version on the main castle and a "villians" version in the villians section both coordinated to the same fireworks) would be a really neat concept if pulled off well... it would also help with crowds around Cinderella Castle as guests would be choosing which version of the show to watch...

Yeah, exactly ... and promotes people spending multiple nights there if they want to see both "versions" of the show

Omg! I have goosebumps. This is the single coolest idea I have ever read on these boards! Wow!!!!!!!!!

I usually require water to believe I’m in the water. I be don’t actually believe I’m in a boat at the end of the Pooh ride. But, it’s fine there because it’s a quaint C ticket.
DisneySea's 20K Leagues Under the Sea? Sections of the Nemo Subs in Disneyland?

& like I said Up has some themes that would fit DAK pretty well. The conservation themes aren't the main point of the film, but they're still there & I'm sure that would make for a good ride.
They've already used the characters in the park in a few different ways with the "Wilderness Explorer" thing.

Honestly, I think it would be possible to make it a better fit than either Moana or Zootopia, especially when in the end, the big battle is ultimately to save the wild bird... plus an excuse to feature actual South American zoological stuff.

Also, would not be difficult to create a natural looking transition to the Dinosaur area, minus the parking lot carnival.

The half day park thing is relative, though -- for me, DHS and both current Universal parks are half day parks, but I could easily spend a full day at DAK.

It just depends on what attractions etc. interest people. Islands of Adventure definitely isn't a half day park for most people even if it is for me, but USF probably is for a significant number.
Thing is, they continue to actively work on addressing that. The third park didn't prevent them from opening a new (small scale) Minions attraction or completely redeveloping the "kids" area.

I'd imagine when the third park opens, we'll see movement where the Fear Factor stunt show theater still sits, too and they've already got plans (only vaguely announced) for what's left of Lost Continent.

If Disney worked at the never-ending pace UNI has been the last decade or so, we'd all* still be happy with them!

*well, most, anyway - can't ever please everyone. 🤷‍♂️

I haven't heard anyone I know speak favorably of it & 77% isn't the best audience score since audiences are usually very forgiving. But I'll admit it probably has some fans.
I don't know anyone who likes FATF, either but they keep makin' 'em so someone must be buying tickets. 🤷‍♂️

It’s cute that we act as though any “investment” on a general concept like dinosaurs is even REMOTELY possible

But it’s not

All the crap that mouthpieces like rasulo, staggs, slaphead, chrissy said over the years still applies: nothing will be done that doesn’t “showcase” something “grand” that was done or bought the last 15 years under the emperor…

…because in the end it’s all about his ego and self reinforcement of the “creative” label he gave himself more recently.

There will likely NEVER be anything of significance added to a Disney park again without some rehashing of a movie/streaming show/ etc.

Sad but true.

I still can't wrap my head around removing dinosaurs, arguably the most popular type of animal, from your animal-based theme park. I understand the ride is expensive to maintain, but why not figure out a way to keep it and reduce maintenance costs?

DAK should be added capacity/things to do, not keeping it at the same level.
We know the “philosophy” at play here:

“Charge them 3 times if they want to eat cake…”

That’s what many people don’t understand on here. No matter how much they add to other parks, MK still has a capacity problem.

They need to expand MK and reopen shuttered dining locations & attractions.
No, they need to build compelling reasons to go to the other parks while you're at WDW.

MK didn't have these insane capacity problems before EPCOT and MGM fell off. The park has always been the most popular with the most to do, and while it needs work the existing imblance cannot afford to be exacerbated. Reopen existing facilities, sure. But they need to take some time and get the other parks on its level, or closer at least. Otherwise Magic Kingdom will only continue to give guests more reasons to come and things to see while the other parks atrophy on their underbuilt/underutilized infrastructures.

MK can hang on while other parks get investments. Its popularity isn't going anywhere and those crowds *can* be mananged by the existing park. You can't keep feeding one child and wonder why the other three are starving.

Not that I foresee things happening this way, mind you. MK does have projects on the horizon.

Yeah, it's a great fit for the park in like every way. I'm surprised this isn't in the plans.

Overseas is carrying that franchise now. The last one bombed in the US, it even made less here than Indy 5.

Hollywood is in desperate need of more attention than MK. That park's popularity is much greater than its capacity rn. I don't think there's a single ride at that place that doesn't get huge lines.
