News Zootopia and Moana Blue Sky concepts for Disney's Animal Kingdom

I don't think they would build another long trail a la Gorilla Falls or Maharajah Trek but I wouldn't be surprised to see an individual enclosure or two or three added along a path or within a land. Like how Dinoland USA has Crocodiles.

I had hopes for an Australia land but this regime wouldn't do it...

still hilarious how some think an IP will ruin an entire park. so laughable. AK will always be a wonderful park to visit

I'm glad you find the lack of intellect among Disney leadership so amusing. I wish I did.

Zootopia would make Animal Kingdom a worse park. Not a bad one, but one that has less thematic direction and less coherent storytelling.

What if existing lands get rethemed eventually? Africa becomes a lion King land and Asia becomes Mulan. Nobody else have this nightmare? Haha
I don't think they'll ever do that, at the very least because it would be way too expensive for them lmao
I still hold out forlorn hope for Beastly Kingdom
Honestly, I think Pandora does everything that land would've done but makes it fit in with the rest of the Animal Kingdom. The ideas they had for Beastly Kingdom sound cool, but medieval Europe with castles & the like would've stuck out like a sore thumb right next to Asia & Africa. Probably even worse than Dinoland since atleast there's a good amount of tropical plants over by the Dinosaur ride.

Avatar's creatures are mythological creations & it showcases how animals have inspired human storytelling much like the legends of dragons & unicorns. But with Avatar you at least have the conservation message like the rest of the park. You don't really get that in old mythological tales; no one's trying to save the dragons, they want them dead lol

MK and DHS are the 2 parks that need extra capacity.
I think DHS needs it like 2x more than any other park. They added one of the biggest draws to Disney World in it & now there's not enough to spread out the crowds. It's made even worse by DHS being the smallest (I think) land wise.

I think they can turn it into their second headliner park if they were smart. It would be the alternative park for slightly older audiences.

Extremely bad for this forum re Zootopia. Too much demand for a Zootopia attraction, even from US fans. Surprisingly, Zootopia is one of Disney's most popular animated movies right now in the US especially for a non-musical

I don't think it's that surprising. IMO Zootopia's one of their best movies since the renaissance (it's my favorite from the modern era). I also think the anthropomorphic characters make it an easy draw for kids. They're easily likable & a lot more fun than human characters can be at times. It's the same reason the likes of Mickey & friends or the Looney Tunes are so beloved.

Personally I don't think Pandora and Beastly Kingdom are that similar, outside of the superficial similarities between Banshees and dragons (both of them being large, flying 'reptiles') and the fact that both are fictional places with made-up creatures. But beyond that, very, very different ideas with distinctly different appeals. And I honestly love Pandora. But I'd love to see Beastly Kingdom in the park as well.

Honestly, while I do love the tropical locales found at Disney's Animal Kingdom, I always thought a blind spot it had was that it only has land-dwelling, tropical animals. I think the next logical step for DAK as a park is a land featuring aquatic life or species found in slightly cooler biomes. A land that is a combination between the old concept of Beastly Kingdomme and a land that features European woodland fauna like bears and wolves would be really cool.

Does anybody think that they will ever build another land with actual animal exhibits? (Even if it's a walk-through attraction).
I'm just thinking of how much backstage room is required for the animals...
South America would be amazing. There's so many wonderful animals there, they could do a trail set in the "Amazon". They also have some IPs in that setting so they could use that to entice the execs lmao. Up, Encanto (based on Antonio & his animals), even Emperor's New Groove.
Hollywood Studios would work...it is unfortunate that they hemmed that park in... vision was too small and left little room for expansion.
It's wild they didn't place it in an area with more expansion room. What if it really kicked off as a production studio? They would've been screwed lol

I'd prefer North America for that. I think there's so many amazing animals here & they could have ties to Native American culture, much like the African & Asian lands do with those cultures. The concept art for Beastly Kingdom was too Arthurian for DAK IMO; it fits better in IOA, atleast before half that land was closed.

The problem with NA is that people wouldn’t see it as exotic enough. Why do I want to see what I can find in my backyard. My wife and I were joking on our last visit about not caring about the zebras because someone in our city has zebras in a pasture right off the main road. Apparently, they wanted to ‘make people smile.’ It works, but now that I see them all the time, seeing them in the zoo just isn’t as special.

OK I re-watched Zootopia last night and absolutely sure that it absolutely does not belong in Animal Kingdom... The characters are all completely clothes wearing humans in animal costumes with a human plotline that is not connected to nature and conservation...they live in a city, have a police force, it is absolutely the worst match for that park...
It's a cute movie...more like a TV movie than a big screen film. It would be a cute addition to the Studios park...where it would make the most sense... Or not a park presence at all is fine with me... There are tons of successful Disney films that never get any park presence...and just being a popular film doesn't mean it is right for the parks.
I think Imagineering has to get away from the IPs and develop more original content... That seems to be the stuff that really sticks... Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Small World, Space Mountain, Journey Into Imagination, Big Thunder, Jungle Cruise...they all have characters developed FOR the attractions and no films attached (except some much much later) and are all beloved and popular...

How about on this plot of land in Animation Courtyard?

That seems like a HUGE amount of space for that IP... I like the idea of the Animation Courtyard area being the portal into the worlds of Disney Animation "lands"... or Toontown... but not Zootopia alone...I feel like Fantasyland is the home of the Disney Fairy Tales... This area could be an amalgam of everything else (not pixar)..

I think either could work. A North American land could, as you said, explore Native American culture and its relationship with nature, as well potentially include attractions based on prehistoric megafauna like woolly mammoths and sabertooth cats, something that would really help round out DAK as a park.

As for Beastly Kingdomme, I would really like to see creatures of myth and legend represented at DAK... they have played an important role in our cultures and a land with dragons and unicorns would explore ideas that Pandora doesn't really touch on, and would still work perfectly in DAK imo.
