When did Nemo become part of the Moana franchise?

Nobody has said that any animals added to the area would be aquatic or aquariums. It’s more likely they would be terrestrial animals from that part of the world which would be perfectly fine.

And since when did Nemo have anything to do with Moanaland? Lol, I'm sorry man, I don't wanna seem rude or anything but that's just baseless speculation, no one at Disney has ever even so much as hinted that the two things will have anything to do with one another, regardless of their proximity.

And @ your comment that "nobody has said that any animals added to the area would be aquatic or aquariums:"

The concept art we’ve seen would be impossible to make happen in reality though, unless they decide to tear down the Nemo theatre. Heck, I think that, in the concept art, the water ride is placed where Primeval Whirl and the theatre were/are. I do think though that the Moana water ride should have animal exhibits in the queue like an aquarium for sea life in the South Pacific and Hawaii.

if they made the que like an aquarium that would be really cool imo. Or just a massive new aquarium exhibit...but I love aquariums.I wish the Epcot Seas pavilion would be torn down and completely redone, its way to small and dated and get rid of the dolphins.

I'm just trying to remind folks that these kinds of ideas are great and all, but not entirely plausible.

It is one of the largest aquariums on the planet. I think it just seems smaller as the viewing is different and sea base themed compared to what is done now.

They do a good amount of rehabilitation through the MMPA and FFAW, so the dolphins will stay.

I would love to see them go back to the original concept... the informational part about the creation of the Seas, then the hydrolator and sea cabs... that made it a voyage... it felt special and epic. They really need to add that wow back somehow... with today's tech, it should be easier than it was in 1984...

Insiders here have indicated that the Nemo theater is expected to be part of the new Moana land. No one has said want the name/premise of the land would be but something like “Oceania” would make the most sense and be consistent with the rest of the park.

I was saying that no insiders have indicated anything about aquatic animals being added. Any animals are likely to be terrestrial ones, perhaps from Australia or New Zealand.

Fair enough, but I still think based on the D23 presentation that an Oceania land with Nemo and Moana is unlikely. That just isn't how they framed the announcement.

Also, nowhere in my original post did I say anything about insiders, so I'm not sure how I was supposed to assume you that's what you meant by "nobody."

Right I get that, which is why I clarified what I was saying in my last post. People say lots of wacky suggestions on these boards, I was pointing out that no one credible talking about animals being added has mentioned aquatic animals as far as I can recall.

I see, well my bad, it was just that your original post seemed like it was presenting a counterargument to my point that aquatic fauna were unlikely.

Since Rohde has “retired”, I have many doubts that anything in this park will be done with the same ideals that he was able to sustain as the Creative Lead. For a park like this, you need a visionary that can pull theme, content, conservation and education all together. That was even managed in some degree with the addition of Pandora- keystone species, affects of mining on an ecosystem, etc. With Rohde out of the picture, I doubt the concepts he defended for this park will ever be achieved as rigorously as they used to be.
I knock Chris Beatty quite a bit, but he does know art direction. If he's in charge of the additions they should look good. They may lack substance or thematic relevance, but they'll look good.

Heard from a reliable source (same one who told me back in August that Tron was not going to have guests on it till March): the Dino-Rama phase of this proposal is likely happening. And the Dinosaur one is secondary/still up in the air. I believe this is what other insiders have said here as well.

Source also mentioned that Magic Kingdom blue sky is more likely to happen than any of the AK stuff. It will at least happen first if anything happens.

It would be odd to do MK first considering DAK is in more desperate need for capacity....

Anyhow, what you are saying jives with what @ToTBellHop has said regarding Moana. I'm actually a little surprised we haven't seen construction walls up yet for that in the old PW footprint and behind that.

I still believe Moana opens first. DAK is “next in line”.

And MK is definitely being fleshed out. I suspect we will hear more concrete ideas at Destination D23 about some of this.

I don't love Moana, but I'm okay with it. Especially if they add some wildlife from the region.

I just desperately hope Zootopia never happens.
If they don't add wildlife from the region, WHY IS THIS GOING HERE? I still wonder if the Moana flume ride was also a proposed Blue Sky replacement for Splash Mountain. It arguably would have made more sense there than the PatF sequel. Just extend Adventureland and have the attraction enter on the opposite side.

Waaay disagree. Its positioning is not at all conducive to it being annexed by Adventureland, and simply relocating the entrance wouldn't remove it from the Frontierland skyline. At least New Orleans is actually along a river of America.

True, though they are now trying to remove it from the Frontierland skyline by making it look less like a mountain and more like a salt dome. I suppose you're right. But I still wonder if that was the origin of Moana having a flume ride.

This has more to do with the fact that there are no mountains in New Orleans rather than them wanting to remove it from the skyline

Of course! Yet another reason that...
