It's kind of funny thinking about the universal things in life: death, taxes, and everyone having at least one of those Disney shampoo bottles on display somewhere in their bathroom.

Old Key West used to have some nice towels, too.

Yes. I'll admit it too. I have the shampoo, bath soap and hand soap from each day of my visits as well. I even have the door hanger about the towels on my bathroom door. But I use the other items for guests when they come over.

Hmm.. .how to put this without sounding like I robbed Disney, well I can easily go a year without having to buy anymore soap or shampoo..... and without needing a card that welcomes me to my toilet........
ya my bathroom mirror still has some from 98 I like the big ones better then the new smaller shampoos

I always bring the shampoo/lotion/soap home, but it goes straight to the local battered women's home. These women and their children many times leave their home with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. I figure my Mickey shampoos might bring a little smile to a child who really has nothing.

my whole family has been going to disney since it opened, and we have so many of the little shampoo/conditioners that we use them as stocking stuffer jokes. I know, its sad

We bring our favorite brands of shampoos, conditioners, soap, etc.. anyway, so the WDW stuff is brought home to our church's pantry. Those who use the pantry for groceries need toiletries too.

We too bring our own products from home and I bring ziploc freezer bags to haul back the disney soaps/shampoo. We've generally stayed at all stars and i never noticed the bathmat being special...but maybe its not at all stars. are all the soaps different at each level? Example: black/red/yellow for the values, anything different for the moderates and the deluxe? just curious.

I always take my soaps/shampoo/lotions...etc., but I always donate them when I get home. I also give them to a battered women's shelter - as someone posted above, sometimes these women and their children are literally fleeing for their lives and don't have time to pack anything. I have also donated to the Red Cross (after some lrecent ocal flooding, many families had NOTHING) for families that have lost their homes to fire or some other disaster. My skin is soooo sensitive that I usually pack my own travel sized shampoo and soap, so rather than just leave the stuff there, we take it home to try and "spread" the magic!

We don't use the soaps and shampoos while we are there, but we do take them home with us. We hava a mickey themed master bath & have found that they add a nice decorative touch in our canisters!

Right before Christmas 2004, I headed up a campaign to send gift boxes to our troops serving overseas, from the office where I worked. You would be amazed at how many shampoos, lotions, etc., from WDW were donated. We sent out about 35 gift boxes. I hope the items from Disney brought a smile to the faces of those who got them.

I have a basket in one of my bathrooms that is full of toiletries from hotels all over (my husband gets to do a lot of traveling). But my favorites are the ones from Disney.

We just came across eight bottles of shampoo and 6 bars of soap from LAST YEAR's trip----we now have 26 bottles of shampoo (the little ones they give away now PLUS several of the old "taller" ones), 9 bottles of conditioner ("taller" version----do they even give conditioner away anymore??), 8 bottles of hand lotion (do they give these away anymore??), and 18 bars of soap (various sizes). WHY DO WE BRING THIS STUFF HOME???!!!! :veryconfu :brick: :veryconfu

The mystery of Disney's high hotel costs is solved.

They're having to recoup their shampoo losses!!! :lookaroun

A point was brought up in the thread about towel animals and people taking them:
You didn't pay for the towels so they're technically not yours to take.

Couldn't the same be said for the extra toiletries?

I don't think you can say the same about extra toiletries. Toiletries are only the size for 1 use, thus they expect to refill them each day. If you use them or keep them that is expected. I would not say the same for the towels. Yes you use towels everyday but they are left in the room or taken to the laundry. Towel animals are part of the theming but still designed to be left in the room.

Erm...I just assumed the towel animals were meant to be taken home. Seemed like a souvenir from the hotel staff. If that's wrong, then mayhaps many people make the same mistake.

As for the toiletries...I wouldn't see that as a real issue unless you were asking for more than the daily refill so you could stash a few shampoo bottles and soap bars.

I don't know if it was a mistake but a peacock and a duck have followed me home before.:)
