We are looking to go in Oct but can't decide between Oct 1-9 or 29- Nov. 6. We want to go for food and wine and MNSSHP, but don't want it to be too busy. What do you all think?
Thanks in Advance!!

Without a doubt, the MNSSHP will be the busiest on Oct 31. That is the first night that sells out, and it will sell out several weeks ahead.

I would go the beginning of October.

and I am the exact opposite!! I would definitely go in the later half of the month. Yellow Shoes is absolutely correct about Oct 31 always selling out for the MNSSHP but simply choose another night for your party. Nights were the following day is a school day are better as they tend to be less crowded. I love the Food & Wine Festival it is awesome!!!! Belle

Meega, nala kwishta!
I agree with Belle, go in the later half of Oct.

We've been going in Oct for years. It's a great month, but it does have one "crowded" time. The weekend before Columbus Day. So be prepaired for higher than normal crowds at all the parks on the 8th and 9th, and MK is even more so crowded.

I've seen long lines, sold out FP, and even MK closing to non-Disney hotel guests on that weekend. You know, packed in like a sardine, can't move at all in the crowd kind of day, and that's at 11:00 AM.

We usally arrive on the Monday to miss most of the crowds, 'cos the rest of that week is low on crowds. We will not ever do that weekend again.

It's still a bit busy on that Monday too, but after that, smooth sailing for the rest of the month except for the MNSSHP on the 31st.

oh THANKS!!! :hammer: Total forgot!! That would be a bad thing! We went Columbus Week 3 years ago. What a nightmare!!! Never again. I think my vote will be for the end of the month. We are trying to avoid the HUGH influx of British tourist during their holiday time period in Oct. (no offence to my GB friends, its just that some of your fellow countrymen are very, very rude!)

Hey Belle, do you think the 31 will be that busy given it is on a Monday night? Just wondering.

October is a great month to go! We do it alot. We're going a week or so later this year though, for 2 weeks beginning Oct.29.

If you subscribe to the "more is better" theory and want a crowded Scary Halloween Party, make sure to reserve early. If not, just pick a more convenient night for your Party that's less convenient for the locals.

I've always enjoyed October, not crowded and still hot (to an Englishman). It can be a little wetter and last year was just a little crazy in the hurricane season.

Hey there Shelley, For as long as I have been tracking such things, the 31st has always sold out, so I Am not so sure that the day makes a difference on that one, just the date!!!! Belle

Thanks Belle! Talked with the "other half" and we would love to go on Halloween night. By best friend and her family went Halloween last year and she said even though it was sold out it didn't seem busy at all and after the 9pm parade the park really cleared out. She heard a lot of parents telling their children that they had to get home to go to bed b/cause they had school the next day. SO maybe that will be our saving grace. When do tickets usually go on sale? That would be nice to know so I can plan ($) !

Oh, and Belle, are you staying warm?? We are getting ready to have a poss. snow and ice storm here in VA starting Tom.! I have been think of you up there in the frozen north!!

That could be a good thing about Halloween being aon a weekday! I am not sure when tickets start to go on sale for that item but if you remind me here and again I will keep an eye out on here to see when that will be occuring!! And Belle is one frozen chick today!!! I am not happy about it in the least either!!!! I am definitely a warm weather sort of person!!! We are supposed to be getting some snow up here as well!!! Stay safe and warm!!!!! Belle

I don't know if there is a school holiday around Haloween. When I went to school there never was.

I don't have kids, so I'd only notice any holiday if the morning traffic to work is not clogged up with people on the school run.

We were there from Oct 30- Nov 7 just past and everything was great. The weather was in the high 80's and the MNSSHP was jammed on the 31st, but the wait times were not too bad. We stayed at Saratoga Springs resort and the place was empty. I highly recommend this time period. An added bonus is that the Resorts start decorating for Christmas usually starting the fisrt few days of November. We will be there again this year from Nov 4th-12th. :king:

the holiday is always one full week before halloween - it rarely ever coincides with halloween so thats a big no! sorry

but the celebration will still be on wont it???

halloween is no where near as highly celebrated in England - the best we do is sell cheep merchandise in Clinton's Cards and go to your friend's house to nick what sweets he's got. that's about it.

October

I will be there this October. The reason: Fall Break for schools. The crowds in October will continue to increase as more school systems change to this calender.

I would say go the first week of Oct. My dad went (without me) to WDW on the last week of October (he went to WDW on Thurs. and Fri.) and he said it was like summer crowds. The main reason I could think of why that was, was because he went the same week as the Funai Classic (Golf Tourney) and that must have brought larger than normal crowds.

We've visited thrice in early October and found it to be very enjoyable regarding the weather and wait times. Still nice and warm and I don't recall any lines longer than 30 minutes for any rides.

Columbus Weekend...

I totally forgot about that holiday when planning our trip!! Is it REALLY crazy on that weekend? We are planning on spending our first day in one of the parks on Sunday Oct 9. We will be there (WDW) for 5 days. We also want to do MNSSHP but haven't seen dates posted yet.
It would be a pain, but we can change it to the week before....would that be the best thing to do?

Either time would be nice. We have gone down in the beginning of October to celebrate our anniversary a number of years and weather is usually great. End of October is also nice. MNSSHP nearer to or on Halloween just has a lot more people dressed up and busy. If you enjoy the shows, snacks and people watching, later in October is best. Then, staying the week after (1st in Nov.) you will almost have a private visit in the parks. Really get to have personal attention in Epcot!
