Your Final Farewell!

Let me quote from an old saying. " All good things must come to a end." So last night,my DW and I were talking Disney ( it's usually me talking to myself ) Anyway, the subject came up about this years vacation turnaround.First it was Dubai, but due to unforeseen circumstances,we are off to Andalusia for 10 nights in October. Now 2014 is my DS last year at school and we're not sure if he wants to go to university, nearest one is 100 miles from us.So money is now the factor. So we decided that 2016 ( god willing ) will be our 6th and final WDW vacation. I really can't complain as I know lots of friends who only dream about going on a Disney vacation. But has anyone else planned out their final farewell, their last goodbye, their last goodnight kiss.:c ( Wheres my hankies ) Well that's what we've decided on,so we have just over two years to get that Mickey money into our Disney account..We will probably book PORS as it is our all time favourite, and of course have our ADRS booked for our favourite restaurants. Its the 14th night that I won't be looking forward too, walking out of Main Street USA,and turning around to say Cheerios to Cinderella's castle..So if it was your final hurrah at WDW.What would you plan? Would you stick to your previous trips and do it all over again,or would you add something new, something you've promised to do,but never did.?

OMG, I stopped breathing and a tear came to my eye reading this! You will still be here thought right? We are not loosing you!!!!

I have to say, no I have no planned this but kind of sort of did. My DH and I moved to HHI, SC and lived with my parents (not the ideal situation) and they are only 4 1/2 hours from Disney. So when we moved there, our first trip was in October, the next year in November and after 2 1/2 years on HHI, yes 2 1/2 year with mom and dad, we needed to get off the island. So we planned the perfect Disney vacation for my DH's bday bc we vowed come hell or high water, we would be off that island. And that meant, not being 4 1/2 hours from Disney. So we planned a 9 day, Deluxe Dining Plan, tours, Grand Floridian vacation. It was epic! We planned it, knowing we would be back to Disney, but we didn't think it would be for awhile. Never expected to go each year since. But the point is - when we planned it - we planned it so that we were going all out. So I would save every penny you have and plan the grandest, most exciting, longest trip ever to make sure you really do everything you want to do. Stay at the place you have always wanted to stay. If you want to eat at every place you ever wanted, then go big!!! Do the tour you have always wanted to do. Get photopass plus so you get every photo and magic shot there ever is. And then walk slowly...very slowly...down Main Street. Savor every sound, sight, smell.

It's not an age thing,it's a money thing..My 5 vacations were taken when I still was working full time.I then opted for a early retirement package ( due to health ) So apart from spending all my cash on Disney vacations.$50000 were spent on a house extension, another $30000 on a new car.. So as much as I love going to WDW..For what we spend on a 14 day vacation,I can get 5 European vacations of 14 nights for the same price..Unless I'am left a fortune by an unknown relative ( that'll be the day ) 2016 will be our farewell vacation..Ive got some great memories, and they last forever.
Maybe after your son graduates from school and gets a good job he'll repay dear dad with a WDW trip! I'm believing!

man this stinks lol....weve only been twice (2010 and 2012) and our next one is in april 2014....at that time my daughter will be three and son will be 7 so thankfully we have at least 5-7 more trips (every two yrs or so)..is it really not that big of diff. in 7 to 14 days?
Because of my distance, our first day is used up on travelling, but the difference in price from 7 days to 14 is only about $1000.

Believe it or not,we were deciding to do a 3 week in 2012,but opted for the usual 2 weeks. The end result was I'am glad we did.On our 14 day,we had done, see, eaten, every inch of Disney. We were ready for home..Apart from that,my feet looked like a hobbits.
I agree three weeks does seem to stretch it a bit.Would only do 2 nowadays unless it was definatley my last trip then would make it as long as possible

Thanks to all for your kind words ( now I feel like a preacher ) But Mr Hatter is not leaving the disney family. As some folk have said, fate can take a turn, and maybe my next visit won't be the final farewell, but to be honest,it looks like it for now.So for all you lucky sods that are going this year, when it's a clear starry night, look up skywards, because up there amongst all the millions of stars, there is one in the shape of a Scottish thistle, smiling down and wishing you have a magical time.;)
