Your Final Farewell!

Let me quote from an old saying. " All good things must come to a end." So last night,my DW and I were talking Disney ( it's usually me talking to myself ) Anyway, the subject came up about this years vacation turnaround.First it was Dubai, but due to unforeseen circumstances,we are off to Andalusia for 10 nights in October. Now 2014 is my DS last year at school and we're not sure if he wants to go to university, nearest one is 100 miles from us.So money is now the factor. So we decided that 2016 ( god willing ) will be our 6th and final WDW vacation. I really can't complain as I know lots of friends who only dream about going on a Disney vacation. But has anyone else planned out their final farewell, their last goodbye, their last goodnight kiss.:c ( Wheres my hankies ) Well that's what we've decided on,so we have just over two years to get that Mickey money into our Disney account..We will probably book PORS as it is our all time favourite, and of course have our ADRS booked for our favourite restaurants. Its the 14th night that I won't be looking forward too, walking out of Main Street USA,and turning around to say Cheerios to Cinderella's castle..So if it was your final hurrah at WDW.What would you plan? Would you stick to your previous trips and do it all over again,or would you add something new, something you've promised to do,but never did.?

Yeh..Three of us,and DS is now classed as an adult..Last year our 14 night package at a moderate with flights cost us around $7500..
Soo sorry Hatter!! But as you said, memories last forever!!;)
I feel your pain. Our DD went with us last month and we only stayed 6 days. By the time we paid for her plane tix, meals, and the pkg at wdw, we spent over $4500!! Adult children make the cost double!!:(
Good luck on saving all that cash for his education!! You are a good parent thinking of his education!! He will appreciate it after he finishes. And then when he graduates, you can take him to WDW for a graduation present!!:)

I have to say several things to this
1.I treat every trip like its my last and there might just be some dust creeping into my eye when we leave the MK for the last time that trip. :(
2.could you not make it for 2015 (october ) just sayin ... Whistles innocently
3.does not DS mean financial burden ;)
4.thankfully my wife is just a big a Disney nut as me so can't see European vacations cutting it :D
5. there is no 5
6.@figmentfan423 .. dont do eurodisney you will be eurodissapointed
7. don't forget to tip your waiter
8 . Y'all come back now ya hear me (subliminal messaging) o_O
9.My last disney trip will be to make the thousandth happy haunt
. 2015 is a no way situation. ( it's an odd year ) past trips...2004...2006...2008...2010...2112..Theres a reason I wouldn't go to USA on an odd year..

How terrible. But I understand the circumstances. We're spoiled with it here in the States. I'm sorry that you are having to say farewell to one of your favorite places. I think if it were my last time, I'd try to spend as much time as I could just taking in the three S's of Main Street: sights, sounds, and smells. Just to sit there and appreciate it for everything those memories have meant to you. I would savor every bite of those favorite restaurants. That's a tough reality.

Don't think of it as your last trip. You never know. My family went when I was a kid for 10+ years and then when my siblings and I got too old for it, we started traveling elsewhere. We went on road trips, to Hawaii, Europe, Mexico - places Teeny Boppers/College kids like doing more than Disney. However, we are now back at Disney with the new generation (my kids, my brothers kids, and my sisters kids). My parents actually end up going 1-2x/year just to go with the grandkids. So, it could be a temporary break and then one day your son will have kids and you might be able by that point to go with them?

Oh no! Maybe DLP might be an option, smaller vacation with all the disney magic :)
If it was my last disney vacation, I would do it the same as my others. I would eat at all my favorite restaurants (maybe splurge on the deluxe dining plan.) Spend an entire day visiting every resort on property! Ride every ride atleast once, even the rides you might dislike (like it's a small world .) Enjoy one of the extra activities disney offers like parasailing, tours, massages, personal family photo session, or firework cruise.

I'am very superstitious, and swore after being in California in September 2001. Never to cross the pond on a odd year. Our anniversary is 11th September..It was a nightmare flying home from LAX to Chicago then swopping planes to fly back to Glasgow. All with American Airlines..

Well i will balance you out by not being superstitious.got married on a Friday the 13th.:D

When my Dear Hubby booked our honeymoon/family celebration at WDW, I thought it was going to be my one and only trip. We had 5 days and I had 38 years of wishes stored up. While we made sure my darling daughter got to see her characters I got to ride the rides I've always wanted, Tea Cup, Mount Everest and made the memories to last. With Dear Hubby the only one working so I could be a stay at home mom to my Special Needs Darling Daughter money is always tight and I am not the person to go in debt just for a vacation. I cherished each and every minute we were there. And yes the last night in Magic Kingdom I cried a little. On the drive home I cried too. And I gave Dear Hubby a big kiss for giving me the chances to mark something off of my bucket list.

A few months later my Dear Hubby surprised me by saying that maybe just maybe we could go again in 2015, this was 2011, it all depends on weather or not the house gets paid off early or not. So far we've been able to make extra payments so my hope is high to go in 2015. But I also know that if work slows down again or something else happens those dates in 2015 might not happen.

So Dear Hatter, while I understand why you'll be saying a fond farewell to WDW, I hope that things turn differently and you'll be able to go again after 2016.

Well gosh, this is a sad subject, but it's also a fact of life. I guess you just have to go into every trip planning like it's your last, but have a "never say never" attitude. I mean, who knows...maybe you'll win some kind of sweepstakes, maybe you'll go as a graduation gift, or maybe you'll be treated by someone. Ex. My brother and I bought my parents a cruise years ago for their 30th anniversary and we chipped in for a trip to Alaska for some dear friends for their 40th. Ya just never know!:)

As for me...no idea when my last trip will be, but I also know my next is never guaranteed when we leave WDW...hence why I always get a little extra dose of sadness. DH likes, but does not LOVE, WDW and has made it clear that he wants a break...so who knows when I'll be back after this bday trip I weasled ;) in for this fall. I do know 1 thing...if I know it's my last...there will be CAKE!!! A REALLY BIG cake! And I will probably try and design something around the trifecta of white chocolate castles...

The mini

The small

And of course, the big...

It'll be one heck of a cake, but I promise to share :D
