Your Final Farewell!

Let me quote from an old saying. " All good things must come to a end." So last night,my DW and I were talking Disney ( it's usually me talking to myself ) Anyway, the subject came up about this years vacation turnaround.First it was Dubai, but due to unforeseen circumstances,we are off to Andalusia for 10 nights in October. Now 2014 is my DS last year at school and we're not sure if he wants to go to university, nearest one is 100 miles from us.So money is now the factor. So we decided that 2016 ( god willing ) will be our 6th and final WDW vacation. I really can't complain as I know lots of friends who only dream about going on a Disney vacation. But has anyone else planned out their final farewell, their last goodbye, their last goodnight kiss.:c ( Wheres my hankies ) Well that's what we've decided on,so we have just over two years to get that Mickey money into our Disney account..We will probably book PORS as it is our all time favourite, and of course have our ADRS booked for our favourite restaurants. Its the 14th night that I won't be looking forward too, walking out of Main Street USA,and turning around to say Cheerios to Cinderella's castle..So if it was your final hurrah at WDW.What would you plan? Would you stick to your previous trips and do it all over again,or would you add something new, something you've promised to do,but never did.?

Well, what you must do now is make your child go to college, major in finance, graduate at the top of the class, get a very high paying finance job OR invent something on par with Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Zukerberg. Then he can use all those millions (billions?) to repay all your years of hard work and sacrifice by sending you to WDW in style every year. Problem solved! ;)

.Saying that,my band seems to be getting more gigs, and at better higher paying venues,so who knows what the future holds..;)

Hmm, you need to figure out how to parlay this into a paying gig at WDW! What kind of music? Do you play any "traditional" Scottish music? Bagpipes? Maybe you could at least get a gig during F&W. You should be writing a song about scotch and haggis right now. :)

Are you still going to be my connection to all things tasty and alcoholic at WDW?

I don't think that I want to plan my final farewell to WDW. I would rather enjoy my vacation as it is and work towards going back in the future. Then if something happens I have enjoyed my time. Really, none of us are ever promised "tomorrow" so I try to work on planning and working for the future balanced with living today as the gift that it is. I will gladly admit struggling with this concept. So thank you OP for making me remember to enjoy today!:)

Thanks to all for your kind words ( now I feel like a preacher ) But Mr Hatter is not leaving the disney family. As some folk have said, fate can take a turn, and maybe my next visit won't be the final farewell, but to be honest,it looks like it for now.So for all you lucky sods that are going this year, when it's a clear starry night, look up skywards, because up there amongst all the millions of stars, there is one in the shape of a Scottish thistle, smiling down and wishing you have a magical time.;)

Hatter, when your DS presents you with a newborn granddaughter or grandson, I will guarantee you that you will again return to planning your next trip! You just wait and see!:)

I look at all my trips as the possible last trip so I try to always do something new or different and make sure I do my absolute favorite things. I have a bad back that's not going to get better as I get older so I push through a lot of discomfort and still go, especially with my granddaughter and no I don't do a scooter as much as I qualify. I too took early retirement but my husband still works full time and our youngest is done with her undergrad degree but may be back in grad school after her disney wedding next year so there's always a chance for me but with my back I never know how long that will last. I also only have the one granddaughter and unlikely to have any more so I basically decided I had limited time magic long before it became a disney theme lol but because of these things I look at each trip as possibly my last one. If I were you'd I'd go out with a bang and do as absolutely as much as possible...make a disney bucket list.

man this stinks lol....weve only been twice (2010 and 2012) and our next one is in april 2014....at that time my daughter will be three and son will be 7 so thankfully we have at least 5-7 more trips (every two yrs or so)..is it really not that big of diff. in 7 to 14 days?

The difference between 7 and 14 days is not great for UK visitors because the airfare is such a big part of the expense. We also get a 14 day park pass for the same price as 7 days.

For my family of 5 airfare is at least $6000 which is the same no matter how long we stay for. In my mind the longer we stay the better value for money I am getting.
