Never been on the GMR actually, but I do plan on going in December! I honestly don't normally take flash photos on dark rides. This was the one time I did and obviously I shouldn't do it again, even if the ride is empty
Totally alone with empty cars/boats for as far as needed both ways? Tempting.
Whilst a normal ride with other guests? Deserves flogging.
What bothers me the most about it is people breaking rules. The rules are laid out very clearly. NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY. So that means... NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY. End of story. Why some people think they are above the rules and should be able to do things other can't is beyond me. NO they are not guidelines. They are the rules. The people who ignore the rules need to stop thinking they are above them and that the rules don't APPLY to them. Whether you agree with them or not, they are stated on these rides for a reason!! I have ZERO tolerance for people who think they are better than everyone else.
Remember, flash is magical. It has infinite range, can lights the un-lightable, and even light actual lights!Better yet, laugh at those who take flash photos of fireworks, or through glass.
Almost as bad as a flash photo is the curse of the LCD screen. Perish the thought of someone videoing SSE with an iPad.
Because they just don't care. Same thing as people walking through the parks smoking in undesignated areas.
The sad thing is, when you start telling these people they're not supposed to do it and it's distracting, they pretend they don't hear you and keep on doing it.
I feel like Disney should produce a guide for people, like the parks maps, that give people the basics. This would give them better photos, and prevent them from annoying others. I notice that Kilimanjaro drivers now mention to use sport mode.Too many people these days have cameras and have no idea how to use them. Like what's already been stated, there is nothing more idiotic than standing on Main Street taking flash pictures of fireworks.
Flash in the rides is obnoxious and pointless. The ride scenes are lit a certain way for a reason. If you light them up with flash, your picture is going to look like crap. What do you need those pictures for anyway? Disney sells all kinds of pictorial books that have pictures of the ride scenes. You can't "re-live" the ride by looking at pictures of it. Why not just ride it while you're there instead of planting your face behind a camera?
Some of the things I see people taking pictures of really cracks me up, such as taking pictures of EVERY SINGLE animatronic animal on Jungle Cruise. Really?? You need 200 pictures of robot animals? I'm sure your family and friends are dying to check those out when you get back.
