I posted on subject of not being able to do things because of resistance from other family members and someone posted about the family wanting to sleepin and start around 10. OMG I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND that!!!! My family does same thing...Im up and ready to go by 7 and they are snoring away. It drives me nuts. At first id just go to food court, get paper and coffee (yuk( then wait around for couple hours for them to be ready. It would literally stress me out. SLEEP AT HOME!!!!..Finally i decided Id just go parks myself and meet up with them. Its nice and rtelaxing but Id rather be with my wife and daughter. What drives people to want to sleep?

Why can't I like this post 100+ times? I total sympathize!

WDW is so expensive for UK visitors that sleeping in would be a waste of money so we are up and away by 7am :) making the most of each day for the money we spent.
to be fair isn't the time difference 5 hours? if you get up for a park at 6 it's sort of feels like sleeping until 11, but the flip side there is its also extra exhausting late at night.
look on the bright side, with the exchange rates it's like each trip is cheaper abd cheaper so you can sleep a little more each time!

I always scheduled sleep-in days for the mornings after we'd be out late for fireworks. I also scheduled nice breaks during the day...naps are important sometimes!

Only once did we arrive at Epcot for rope drop and stay through illuminations. Nearly killed my friend and I. We both fell asleep immediately upon walking into the room and lying down on the bed.

Yes, I am the one awake. A few times my DD has gotten up with me.
But a teenage boy? The only way last trip we made it out the door by 9:55, is I mentioned something about the food court stops serving breakfast, and I guess you are OK missing a meal then. Then it is like a hurricane whipping through the room. Works every time!:D
Absolutely going by myself if I have to, for just one MK rope drop.

My mom and sister sleep in everyday- on vacation or not. On our most recent vacation, my dad and I went to the parks early almost every day. They wouldn't get to the parks until 11:00 AM or something insane like that. My dad and I would have already done a good bit of the parks... mostly the rides they don't like lol!

Sorry, I totally disagree with you. We sleep in to whenever we get up and then go to a park for a few hours, come back to our resort, relax and recharge and then go to another park till the wee hours in the morning. Unless it's AK and then we leave at 7.

That's what I was thinking. I went to Hawaii this past summer and was up by 7 out there too. But I was in bed at 9. Not that it mattered, you definitely want to be doing stuff during the day out there.

haha I dare say that may change for some once 21yrs hits

I'm starting a rumor that when they create the term Luau the word was just "loo" the "ow" was added from the next mornings hangover and tired muscles

True, very true, but the pool bar at Aulani is open all day...thank goodness for the non alcoholic concoctions.

As much as I like being a part of the rope drop, I'd like to have some relax time on vacation and sleep in. Usually we do rope drop for MK, HS, and AK, but Epcot and repeat days I'm sleeping in a bit and enjoying every minute of it.

Actually I prefer to sleep in, and then hit the parks later in the afternoon when the crowds have died down a bit.

In other words....when all the parents get the kids back to the hotel for the afternoon nap.

You, @figmentfan423, and myself...I think she gets up before me, but I'm up by 4:30. I've got to be at school at 7:00 and I have a 40-minute commute, after I get my morning walk with the dog in and ready...I leave home by 6:15. Like you, 6-7 is sleeping in...

As long as I keep moving and doing (which isn't hard at Disney), I can make it through late EMH at MK (3 am on our last visit) and still be up early the next day...internal alarm clock; I don't even use a 'real' alarm clock anymore.
Hey gf I'm up and already did my morning workout!:) I go to Disney to sleep in and take it easy! Rope drop til I get thrown out is resting compared to my life! LOL

I too get up at 5:00 am everyday. However, I usually am awake at 4:30 and lay in bed waiting for the arlarm. The last time we were there I woke up around 4:30 the first couple of mornings and I didn't want to wake everyone up. So I quickly and quietly got dressed and went out for a walk. Unfortunatley, they don't have the coffee avaliable at that time of the morning so I would find someplace to sit and enjoy the morning all to myself. By the end of my vacation I am able to sleep in a little; 6:00 am maybe. Once everyone is up it's get your butt ingear and head to the park of the day for the opening.
