You can sleep late at home....when at Disney, GET UP!!!!!!

I think everyone should sleep in until at least midday, that would give us a few hours of park time to ourselves!

Seriously, each to their own. I love that first quiet hour, before the sun gets too hot and another fun-filled day stretches in front of us but I can understand peiople prefering a lie-in and a slow start to the day. The food courts are always quiet for us but are busying up considerably as we head off to the parks so I imagine we are in the minority.

8 days and counting!!!

We are at 7 days. See you bright and early!

I have always been first out the door. I will never forget when we traveled with my entire mothers side. Dad got us room service for brekfast, my lil brother and i got ready and brought some food over to my grandmother. she opens the door in her nightgown and ask where are you two going? we told her MK opens in 40 min we r leaving.
I could never sleep in at WDW.

Goign to Disney for me means thousands of dollars, months of planning, new cloths and shoes, saving all extra money, time out from school (years ago) and alot to do! Some people like to sleep, when I am there I want to use every min of the park hours and do what i can.

This next trip is my honeymoon in Sept 13' may be the first trip where I am not so gun-ho the entire time. but we are also going for 11 days. plenty of time.

Nope, I sleep in on my vacation and I refuse to get up early. I get up early when I am at home, why on earth would I do that on my vacation? We get to the parks at 10 and this is what works for us. You will never see us at a rope drop.
We saw the rope drop= once. I'm not waking up early for that anymore. I wake up at 4-ish every day, I'd rather sleep in stay out late- especially during Christmas with the lights etc. We also enjoy the Boardwalk at night, Jellyrolls, etc :) And it's not as hot!

This last trip I got up at 5:30am in order to make it to MK's opening. SO worth it, at least once!

Epcot, meh. No big rush except to get Soarin' and Test Track done (neither of which I particularly care about). WS doesn't open until 11am anyway, and who goes to FW? ;)

But I'm usually always at a park very close to opening. The rest of the family meets me later! Slackers.

I'm not an "up at the crack of dawn" kind of person, so I really don't see the point of doing it while I'm on vacation. I don't sleep until noon either, but I'd much rather get to the parks after all of the rope-droppers tear through the gates.

Being an hour or so behind the morning rush usually means breakfast is less crowded, the buses are less crowded, and getting through the gates is a lot less hectic. I love the way the parks look at night, and I would much prefer to close the park down than open up with it.

Do what works. As long as you are not putting a burden on your wife and she is really ok with that idea.
And if she isn't ok with it? Her alternative is to get out of bed or deal with a cranky husband. To me, it sounds like the best for everyone. He clearly has not been ok with the sleeping in.

I am naturally a night owl. But with a toddler, I am forced to switch.

I do wish that WDW had the late night hours last time we were there, before having kids. I would much appreciate being able to do late nights. But at this point, that is not in the cards for us. So early it is!

We are there from rope drop until the last CM tells us to hit the bricks. We like to set up a wake up call every morning so the characters call and wake us up. We each take turns answering the phone in the mornings. Gets the day off to a great start. Only problem I see is that we are taking two 16 yr old girls with us this time. Luckily my daughter showers the night before. But by the time she is done straightening, primping, spraying and putting make up on the princesses will be old ladies. Not sure about the getting ready habits of the other young lady. We may have to leave them in a cloud of perfume and hairspray.

Does anyone else ever wake up around 6:30 am and see the sun shining through the slight crack in the curtains, you hear a few birds chirping, you get that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing Disney World is right outside your window and awaits you, you think of getting to the parks early and you tell yourself to stay awake and get up early to enjoy the whole day,.. you flip your pillow to feel the cool side and lay your head back down just for a moment,.. and next thing you know its 10:00 and your waking up to doors slamming, kids running up and down the hall, banging from the ceiling above or the room next door, and then the hum of the leaf blower chimes in from the groundskeepers beginning, and NOW you are awake. Thats usually how my early mornings go, and for some reason I love it that way!

I get up at 5:00 every day...6:00-7:00 is sleeping in to me
You, @figmentfan423, and myself...I think she gets up before me, but I'm up by 4:30. I've got to be at school at 7:00 and I have a 40-minute commute, after I get my morning walk with the dog in and ready...I leave home by 6:15. Like you, 6-7 is sleeping in...

As long as I keep moving and doing (which isn't hard at Disney), I can make it through late EMH at MK (3 am on our last visit) and still be up early the next day...internal alarm clock; I don't even use a 'real' alarm clock anymore.

lucky! I have an internal alarm but years of OCD had the opposite effect, I'm so afraid I won't wake up at the right time so each night I set an actual alarm clock, 3 alarms ony iPhone and a backup for that backup on my iPad. instinctively I will wake up ten minutes before them all and stare at the clock for 9 minutes afraid I will miss the alarms and then on the 9th minute turn them all off and get up.

that reminds me an awful lot of a song I heard once
"til I'm six feet under baby I don't need a bed,
I'll live while I'm alive I'll sleep when I'm dead"

I don't recall who sang it, But clearly they are legends. it's a pretty catchy tune, I dare say whoever sang this would be great to have play in rock n roller coaster eventually.....

Bon Jovi - I'll Sleep When Im Dead :D

is that the band? I dare say someone should suggest they somehow make it to rock n roller coaster.

( okay truth time...... I think I actually go back to Bon Jovi at least once in many threads. sometimes it's not too tough like in here, sometimes it's quite tough like in a thread about your favorite part of splash mountain. it's hard but theres nothing that says ya can't. so for me like another Bon Jovi great I treat it as though "loves the only rule" [note: moderators may likely have more rules])

I am a morning person, and in WDW I am really a morning person! Everyone is different so I really can't say why people sleep in when they are there. I am up before 5am everyday so I am used to it. I am only in Disney for a limited amount of time so I want to make the most of my days there.. and that means being up early to get ready and make my way to the food court and head out. I never have a hard time jumping out of bed in disney.. Wish it were the same at home!

I am the worst person in the world in the mornings, I need coffee and no one really speaks to me until I start a conversation. But when I am at WDW I am awake every morning at 6, I get the coffee have a shower and then wake DH and DS. While they wake up and get ready I sit on the balcony drink my coffee and watch the day start. I am always the last to bed each night too. Maybe its a holiday away from myself or the total excitement, I am the same at Christmas!!!

I think the way you approach the parks is also different as you get older. I remember when we were younger my Dad was the Disney Drill Seargent. I don't recall ever making it to rope drop. But we were definitely up at about 6:30-7am. We'd get to the parks early after a big breakfast that was expected to tide us over until supper. Then we'd attack as many rides as we could and my Dad would actually check them off in the park brochure as we did them.

On our last trip though he had definitely slowed down and I anticipate our next trip next year to be even slower. With 4 kids between the ages of 30-21 I'm thinking it'll be wake up when you are ready and then meet us at whatever park we are going to that day. I honestly prefer to sleep until about 9 and then go to the parks and then stay late for EMH. We prefer to come back after park closing and take a dip in the pool before bed. I'd much rather stay up later than be up earlier, but to each their own.

If it was up to me we would be up and out the door by 7:30 every day...DW has other plans though:oops:. Not a big deal though...DD(10) and I get up and out by around 7:30 to have a nice walk around whatever resort we stay at for pictures and to watch the sun break across the resort while DW puts her face on for the day. Some really great photo ops have occurred during these walks and it is a great time for us to reconnect...every year I feel less in touch and relevant! It is a magic time for she and I but we do get to rope drop at MK at least once per trip. It is actually good because it makes this small business owner downshift and enjoy a family vacation for what it is supposed to be!

One Little Spark...
I'm not much of one to get out to the Parks at rope drop...though I do make it a point to get to MK at least once in the trip to see the show.

However, "sleeping in" doesn't mean getting to the Parks at 2p (as I experienced when I invited my ex to visit)...

That was annoying.
