You can sleep late at home....when at Disney, GET UP!!!!!!

When it comes to getting up early or sleeping in, it's really a matter of preference from different people. I'm not a morning person myself but the only time I think it's worth getting up early for anything is going to a Disney park because of excitement and convenience of beating the crowds and being able to go on my favorite rides that happen to be the most popular without having to wait long times.

Also, the duration of the trip also plays a factor. With more days, you can include some rest days in between where you can sleep in and not be time-compressed to visit the parks on consecutive days/every day. But when you don't have much time, it's either sacrificing park time or rest time and that becomes very hard. Otherwise, sleeping early would not hurt so that you can get up early without problems. This is why I enjoy solo trips so much and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. I don't have to worry about people holding me back to do the things I want to do.

But anyway, if you and/or someone else in your party need a break, by all means, take a break or a nap. How you spend your vacation is entirely up to you. Sure, we can give all the tips you want but in the end, it's your decision how you want to spend it :)

We have been going to disney since 2004, going almost every year. Everytime we have gone, we have gotten up early, eat good breakfast at food court and get to rope drop. We accomplish a lot when we go to parks that are open early. We work hard and play hard, I guess and want to get the most out of the money we have spent on our vacation. 35 days to go!!!!!

We go go go all day- arrive at rope drop or just after (within the first hour though), then we stay until early/mid afternoon, go back to hotel for a short while (rest/break/pool?) and head out for dinner somewhere else or EMH. Usually we are sleeping from about 12-1 AM until 6-7 AM. Not a long time but the excitement really gets us revved up(and we don't take very long trips either so it's about maximizing park time)

We have always, always hit the parks early. We get to ride the "big stuff" as a walk on, and then go get lunch about the time everyone decides to roll out of bed and get to the parks. ;) I doubt we could sleep in if we tried. We're always too excited to sleep. I can barely get to sleep the night before because of the anticipation of the following day. I don't bag on other people because they sleep in. That's their thing. The way I look at it is that means we have a couple of extra hours with the parks to ourselves. :D

One of the things I love about this place...there are people like me!
I thought I was alone in the world....

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't understand it. I get messages from members sometimes. It's set to accept.

And thanks. :D

I posted on subject of not being able to do things because of resistance from other family members and someone posted about the family wanting to sleepin and start around 10. OMG I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND that!!!! My family does same thing...Im up and ready to go by 7 and they are snoring away. It drives me nuts. At first id just go to food court, get paper and coffee (yuk( then wait around for couple hours for them to be ready. It would literally stress me out. SLEEP AT HOME!!!!..Finally i decided Id just go parks myself and meet up with them. Its nice and rtelaxing but Id rather be with my wife and daughter. What drives people to want to sleep?

Well, I tend to be up around 7:00 am each day at the World, no matter what. However, we do tend to stay at the MK until it closes which can be quite late, so staying up late every night leads to getting up a bit later each morning. We have probably been on at least 20 trips since 1996 and I've yet to see rope drop at even one park.

I love to sleep in on my days off at home, but can't imagine doing that at Disney. Our plan is to be there at each park opening then going back to our resort early afternoon for a nap or to lounge at the pool. Then back out for our dinner reservations and afterwards back to the parks for EMH. That is the plan...we'll see how it goes.

I would contact a site administrator to see what the problem is then. Who knows, it might be happening with multiple members. Try PMing wdwmagic.

Keep in mind that there are afternoon thunderstorms when you're going, so you may not be able to swim but you would be able to be in the parks. So if you really want to go to the pool, go in the morning. We do the plan in reverse. We spend the morning by the pool and chill and then head to the parks in the afternoon. It also saves having to shower so many times per day. Just a thought, it's 100% up to you:)

I would rather sleep and stay up late because in my normal life I am up at 4:45 everyday so its nice to sleep in... But everyone does there own thing! :)

I agree! I get up at 6:30 for school while I'm at home, so when I go to the World I tend to take a day or two to sleep in late. Vacation becomes exhausting if we don't take some time to stop and relax while we're there!

I'm more of an night owl then an early bird. When I try and actually get up early at wdw I stroll out of bed around 9 lol. I want to make a rope drop one trip but without help, its not happening and my g/f is worse then I am about mornings lol. However, we both can and do stay up and out all night. In our Dec trips, when the parks close early like 8 or 9 we either hit up DTD for a night but we really like to head over to Universals CityWalk. Its a much better adult area although being from New Orleans and use to literally staying out all night and walking out of clubs with the sun up, the 1:45am last call thing is annoying lol.(I know its the law there)
