When it comes to getting up early or sleeping in, it's really a matter of preference from different people. I'm not a morning person myself but the only time I think it's worth getting up early for anything is going to a Disney park because of excitement and convenience of beating the crowds and being able to go on my favorite rides that happen to be the most popular without having to wait long times.
Also, the duration of the trip also plays a factor. With more days, you can include some rest days in between where you can sleep in and not be time-compressed to visit the parks on consecutive days/every day. But when you don't have much time, it's either sacrificing park time or rest time and that becomes very hard. Otherwise, sleeping early would not hurt so that you can get up early without problems. This is why I enjoy solo trips so much and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. I don't have to worry about people holding me back to do the things I want to do.
But anyway, if you and/or someone else in your party need a break, by all means, take a break or a nap. How you spend your vacation is entirely up to you. Sure, we can give all the tips you want but in the end, it's your decision how you want to spend it
