We have a Magic Gathering booked for January for the Marathon. We got our DVD in the mail this weekend. It said it was for the XXXXXXXXX Magic Gathering in January. Watch the DVD. "It's filled with lot's of information about what's going in, including The Year of a Million Dreams celebration." :veryconfu

Yes that's in quotes because that's exactly what it said. It also mentions other special January events like the Pirates and Princess Party (Anybody else call it the Princess and Pirates Party? This was the first time I've noticed it's actually the other way around."). Thus they clearly knew we had a January trip.

So, it's either an error, which it could easily be, or they are at least planning to continue into January 2009.

Has Disney actually announced what may replace YOMD in January? If they haven't announced it to the public yet, there's no reason for them to put it on your DVD, even if it was customized for January. If there's no official information on the new campaign available yet, then the YOMD would be the next best thing to put there. It's better that they include soon-to-be-old information than nothing at all.

Just a guess.

If the YOMD goes on much longer, I'm never buying a Disney calendar again. They obviously don't know how long a year really is!

Maybe its just a DVD that hasnt been updated for January 09:shrug:. Rumors have been saying that Magical Celebrations will take over in 09.

Disney seems to like making up its own calendar year. 50 was 18 months and YOMD is 24 months? wow if I were going be Disney years for my age I'd be like 10 hahaha.

The 2008 Disney Planning Video clearly states that The Year of a Million Dreams is currently scheduled to conclude on December 31, 2008. Of course everything is always subject to change without notice :)

Yes, it clearly states several times that YOMD ends Dec. 31, 2008. That's why it's weird that they would be pushing it as the FIRST thing to promote for my WDW trip in January 2009. I'd scan it in, but my Printer/Scanner only prints. Glad I spent money on the Plussed+++ printer huh?

My guess is that the customized letter needs to say SOMETHING, so it just says that. Otherwise you'd have a random blank space in the middle of your letter. Most Guests don't plan THAT far ahead of time, so without anything else to go on, they probably just are treating next January as if it were this past January.

I wouldnt worry about it too much Jimbo, the letters disney send are usually computer generated things. It most likely is just what the system defaults to right now as theres no new celebration or thing announced for next year yet.

That said on the Princess and Pirate thing. I could understand if its the other way around, as the princess aspect seems more popular in the parties than the pirates.

Hey, some guests DO plan that far ahead! January 09 isn't all that far off! And I've got a trip booked for OCTOBER 09!!! That's what happens when you're a Brit, you see. You book it a looooong time in advance cos it's such a long way to go and costs so much!!!

I am going in January of 09 and I started planning in January of 08. Usually I go every year, but I went in Nov 07, so it will be just about a year and 3 months when we go. But my parents aunt and cousins are going too so it will be well worth the wait!
