Bosses can't play the blame game to the public. only within the workplace. The lack of an adequate band-aid above a single strobe light falls on the boss's shoulders, and AK is Joe's baby. Even if it's not his fault, who else is available for the public to blame? Ultimately, he MUST take public responsibility for the cure. If he doesn't, he's a lousy boss. The broken yeti is an embarrassment. The lack of a replacement effect for 5 years is an abomination. Call me harsh, but I'd fire is . . . employment.

Joe isn't the "boss" of AK. He works for WDI and is simply the WDI employee who oversees the Imagineering of that park. I guarantee Joe would LOVE for the Yeti to work. I mean, that thing was his baby. He's probably devastated that it doesn't work.

Yes, he designed it, but that's not the same as operating or repairing the ride well after the park was opened. If you want to focus your blame on someone who deserves it, you could look at the VP for Animal Kingdom, whom I believe is (or was) Michael Colglazier.

And while the VP of a park might also be a good person to point fingers at, I'm not 100% sure they have unhindered access to funds. Money is allocated from the top, down. The VP of the park also has to consider the repercussions of closing down one of only a few attractions in the park to fix one animatronic. Closing EE to fix it will mean lower guest capacity, and lower interest, overall, for guests to visit the park.

We all want the stupid thing fixed, but I'd much rather AK keep EE open, build another land, and then close it once there is something else to absorb the crowd and keep the guests interested in the park.

THANK GOD. We can finally stop hearing constant crying over it. It never ruined my experience on it when it wasn't working but I'm glad to hear it being fixed.

Personally I think they need to figure how long it would be to actually FIX the yeti....so they can start planning a scheduled time to CLOSE EE for a short while. I mean we had animal kingdom for soooo many years without anything exciting. We can do it again for a while. Its not like they are taking the ride down. I think it will just make everyone happy and me happy so we wont Have to complain and argue for another 7+ years for AVATAR to be completed. JUST DO IT NOW!...

Exactly, and someone stated that we went how many years without EE so why can't we now, well the difference is we didn't have Harry Potter down the road or LegoLand. If you close Everest, thats a HUGE reason to say your going to skip AK on your trip and go check out Potter or LegoLand. Disney doesn't want to give us anymore reasons to leave their property, especially right now when Uni is doing so well.

But most everyone that rants and raves about DAK being a half day park should not have any problem with it.....

As the VP of DAK, the number one priority is the animals. Safety, care of the animals, food for the animals, medical for the animals, etc. Then comes the guests and CM's later. Then at the bottom or near the bottom is the show quality of the attractions.

I like the idea of PVC and pulleys to make a reasonable repair down the raod, but I still think that lights, projections, and other "band aids" could be economically installed to enhance what we currently have right now. Pulling out the old yeti, and putting in a lighter and simpler yeti, takes some pretty serious expense and probably closures. My proposal is simpler, cheaper, and probably could be installed without closing down the ride.

Either way, a strobe for 5 years is embarrassing. Yeah, it's bad that the original Yeti doesn't work, but how can a world class company slap a disco strobe on it and call that adequate.

It's almost as stupid, ridiculous, short-sighted, dumb, idiotic, uninspired, imbecilic, and underwhelming as the new Tommorowland Transit Authority narration. But that's something completely different, if not yet another symptom of a corporate problem.

You have my sympathies.

No worries. It's not because we hate the park; it's quite beautiful and I actually enjoy being in Animal Kingdom relaxing a bit. However, our visits to WDW have been of the long weekend variety for the last couple of years and we simply prefer to duck in/duck out of AK and DHS hitting only a couple of favorite attractions and spending the majority of our time in Epcot and MK. In 2013, we're planning on going for a week so that will probably change.

I rode Everest several times today and the yeti isn't facing the same way as before. He is still completely stationary, but he is facing into his strobe light, not even looking at the train. I'm not skilled enough to have gotten pics but I guess that's what they were up to a few weeks ago.

I'd like to take this time to point out that the Yeti actually has like two or three strobe lights that fire, not just one.

Not that it really makes it better or anything, of course.

So this multi billion dollar corporation sprung for 2 or 3 strobes instead. That makes me feel better. After all, going down to the corner hardware store for two or three strobes and spending twice as many hours on a stepladder makes all the difference. Not to be sarcastic, but . . . too late.

But on to the autopsey. Rumors abound, but does anybody actually know what is wrong for sure? Or whose fault it really was, the contractors, the designers, the imagineers? It's dangerous to hear a few rumors, begin speculating, and then running off with solutions that might fix a problem that doesn't actually exist. I'm just saying . . .

Actually, what I'm just wondering is why Disney doesn't give us an official statement. It's not as if anyone can ignore a dead two ton yeti.

I was there this past weekend and my group and I didn't see the yeti at all. In the half second we saw where he was supposed to be it looked like nothing was there. Has yeti been inched out or is it behind tarp?

On the rare occasion that you do cath the strobe effect right, he is hunched over and you cannot see his face anymore anyways. You see the top of is head and a limp arm.

Put a projection or hologram up and dump the AA.
